Pune\: In a landmark moment for India’s mining and heavy machinery sector, Sany India has unveiled the country’s first locally manufactured hybrid off-highway 100-ton mining dump truck — the SKT130S. Engineered for performance and sustainability, this innovation marks a significant stride toward achieving technological self-reliance in India’s industrial landscape.
Manufactured at Sany’s state-of-the-art facility in Pune, the SKT130S brings together cutting-edge hybrid technology and heavy-duty mining capabilities, tailored to meet the demands of India’s evolving infrastructure sector. Boasting a powerful 925 kW engine with a staggering torque of 3200 Nm, this diesel-electric hybrid beast is designed to endure the harshest mining terrains with unmatched durability and efficiency.
With a payload capacity of 100 tons and a 61 CuM heaped body capacity, the SKT130S doesn’t just promise brute strength—it redefines operational productivity. Its standout feature, a regenerative braking system, charges the high-voltage battery during downhill runs, improving fuel efficiency by an impressive 20–25% over conventional mining trucks.
Speaking on the launch, Deepak Garg, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Sany India and South Asia, stated, “The introduction of the SKT130S is a remarkable achievement in our journey towards driving innovation and self-reliance in India’s mining sector. The SKT130S also puts operator safety and ease-of-use at the forefront. Its intelligently designed cabin includes a 10-inch central control screen and FOPS/ROPS certified protection, ensuring global safety standards are met while delivering intuitive, seamless control for operators.
Aligned with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ vision, Sany has already localized significant components of the SKT130S and is accelerating efforts to further indigenize its supply chain.
