New Delhi:
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country’s top passenger vehicle manufacturer, has clocked its highest-ever annual export figures, shipping 332,585 units in FY 2024-25 — a 17.5% jump over last year’s 283,067 units. The milestone not only sets a new benchmark for the company but also marks the first time Maruti Suzuki has crossed the 3-lakh export mark in a fiscal year, reinforcing its dominance as India’s No. 1 passenger vehicle exporter for the fourth straight year.

The company’s export share stood at nearly 43% of India’s total vehicle exports, with models like the Fronx, Jimny, Baleno, Swift, and Dzire driving the growth. Key international markets that contributed to this achievement included South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Japan, and Mexico.
Maruti Suzuki’s journey aligns with the Indian Government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, showing a remarkable 2.4x increase in exports over the past five years.
Commenting on the landmark performance, Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said,
“FY 2024-25 has been a landmark year for Maruti Suzuki in terms of exports. Aligned with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ vision, we attained record exports of 332,585 units. This achievement once again cemented our position as India’s number 1 passenger vehicle exporter. We are humbled that our manufacturing excellence has earned global trust.”
He added that exports of the Fronx and 5-door Jimny to Japan have been met with an enthusiastic reception — a reflection of India’s increasing significance in global automotive manufacturing.
Looking ahead, Takeuchi shared that the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo had spotlighted India’s role as the manufacturing base for Suzuki’s first global strategic Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the e-VITARA. Starting FY 2025-26, the company is set to begin exports of the e-VITARA to nearly 100 countries, including Europe and Japan.
Maruti Suzuki’s export legacy began in 1986, with its first major consignment of 500 cars shipped to Hungary in 1987. In November 2024, the company crossed the 3 million cumulative export milestone. Today, it exports 17 models to around 100 countries, continuing to position India as a trusted global automotive hub.
