Gurugram — Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. has recorded its strongest sales year in seven years, fueled by the breakout success of the New Nissan Magnite, and has unveiled bold operational changes as part of the company’s global turnaround strategy.
In FY2024-25, Nissan achieved a consolidated sales figure of over 99,000 units (domestic + export), marking a 35% year-on-year growth — the highest since FY2017-18. The key driver? The New Nissan Magnite, launched in October 2024, which has not only dominated the domestic B-SUV segment but also spearheaded Nissan’s global export strategy under the ‘One Car, One World’ philosophy.
Export Engine Roars to Life
Nissan’s export business skyrocketed to 71,000+ units, reaching over 65 international markets — a record-breaking expansion from just 20 markets previously. With both Right-Hand Drive (RHD) and Left-Hand Drive (LHD) versions in demand, the Magnite has positioned India as a strategic export hub for the brand.
Domestic Growth Amid Industry Challenges
Despite growing competition from alternate fuel vehicles in the Indian B-SUV space, the New Magnite delivered 28,000+ units in domestic sales, reinforcing its appeal. Nissan also announced a price hike of up to 3% on all Magnite trims effective 1st April 2025, citing rising input and operational costs.
Strategic Restructuring for a Leaner Future
As part of its global restructuring efforts, Nissan has initiated a major shift in its Indian operations by offloading its stake in the Chennai JV plant to an Alliance partner. This move aims to boost efficiency, agility, and profitability, while still preserving the company’s commitment to the Indian market.
“India remains a strong pillar of growth for Nissan,” said Frank Torres, Divisional VP – AMIEO Region Business Transformation & President, Nissan India Operations. “This restructuring is a key step in becoming a leaner, more agile company globally while staying committed to Indian customers and partners.”
Future-Ready Product Lineup
Looking ahead, Nissan plans to launch two new models in India:
- An all-new 7-seater B-MPV in FY25
- A 5-seater C-SUV in FY26
These additions are part of Nissan’s strategy to diversify its portfolio and strengthen its dealership network for deeper market penetration.
“The New Magnite has proven itself as a favorite in the B-SUV segment,” said Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India. “Our focus now is to enhance the customer experience with a stronger product lineup and wider network.”
