Rising Star Kush Maini Joins BWT Alpine as Test and Reserve Driver for 2025

Indian Racer to Balance Key Alpine Role with Formula 2 Campaign

In an exciting move for Indian motorsport, BWT Alpine Formula One Team has announced Kush Maini as their new Test and Reserve Driver for the 2025 season. The 24-year-old from Karnataka will extend his duties within the Alpine Academy, adding to his growing credentials in the motorsport world.

Maini will continue his involvement in Alpine’s Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) Programme while also competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with DAMS. This dual role positions Maini as a rising star on the Formula One circuit, blending track experience with vital team support at the elite level.

A Vital Role in Alpine’s Development

As Test and Reserve Driver, Maini will contribute directly to Alpine’s car development and performance targets. His duties will involve extensive simulator work at Alpine’s Enstone base, helping refine race strategies and technical upgrades. Additionally, his participation in the TPC Programme will ensure he gains vital on-track experience in contemporary Formula One machinery, sharpening his skills for potential race opportunities.

Maini’s rapid progress since joining the Alpine Academy in October 2023 has been marked by five podium finishes, including a memorable victory in Hungary. His dedication and results have earned him this expanded role, underscoring Alpine’s confidence in his abilities.

Maini Excited for Dual Challenge

“I am delighted to step up to the role of Test and Reserve Driver for BWT Alpine Formula One Team this season,” said Maini. “Since joining the Alpine Academy, I have felt incredibly welcomed, and I am grateful to Flavio [Briatore] and Oliver [Oakes] for their continued support. I’m excited to gain more track time in Formula One machinery and build on what I have already learned with the team. For now, my focus remains on my Formula 2 campaign, starting this weekend in Australia.”

Alpine’s Growing Faith in Maini

Julian Rouse, Alpine Academy Director, praised Maini’s development, stating: “We are very happy to announce Kush’s expanded role within the team. He has impressed us with his TPC performances and Formula 2 results, and we are confident he will continue to excel. His additional duties strengthen our pool of talented drivers available to support the team throughout the demanding Formula One season.”

With this appointment, Maini continues to solidify his presence in international motorsport, representing a significant step forward for Indian talent in the elite world of Formula One. All eyes will now be on Maini as he embarks on his third Formula 2 season, with both Alpine and motorsport fans eager to see his progress.
