Final Gulfstream G650 Rolls Off the Line, Marking the End of an Era

Savannah, Ga. – Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has officially completed production of the final Gulfstream G650, signaling the end of an iconic chapter in business aviation history. This last aircraft is now set to undergo the completions process at Gulfstream’s Appleton, Wisconsin, facility before being delivered to a customer later this year.

The G650 and its extended-range counterpart, the G650ER, have long been considered the gold standard in business aviation, amassing over 1 million flight hours since their introduction. “Since their inception, the G650 and G650ER have become the industry standard that all others have followed,” said Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream. “Beyond the program’s innumerable accolades and 125+ world speed records, innovations introduced with the form, fit, and precision manufacturing process of the G650 laid the groundwork for today’s next-generation Gulfstream fleet.”

Awarded the prestigious Robert J. Collier Trophy in 2014, the G650 family revolutionized performance, safety, and efficiency in the business jet sector. Its impressive feats include a 2015 world circumnavigation with just one stop, a record-breaking 2019 flight from Singapore to Tucson, and its role in the 2019 “One More Orbit” mission, which set the Guinness World Record for the fastest circumnavigation of Earth via the poles.

Despite the end of production, Gulfstream assures that the G650 fleet will remain a cornerstone of business aviation for years to come. “While this will be the final G650 produced, the fleet’s high utilization and dispatch reliability mean these aircraft will serve customers for decades,” Burns emphasized. Gulfstream continues to support the model with ongoing technology upgrades, including the Honeywell Primus Epic Block 3 avionics suite and Starlink high-speed internet connectivity.

The G650 also played a key role in Gulfstream’s sustainability initiatives, serving as the testbed for the industry’s first flight using 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in 2022. Its legacy of innovation and performance will live on in Gulfstream’s next-generation fleet, most notably in the all-new G800.

Designed as the successor to the G650 family, the ultralong-range G800 offers unparalleled performance, boasting a range of 8,000 nautical miles (14,816 km) at Mach 0.85 and 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 km) at Mach 0.90. The aircraft is powered by Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines and features Gulfstream’s advanced high-speed wing, the award-winning Symmetry Flight Deck, and the new Combined Vision System (CVS) for enhanced pilot situational awareness. The G800, capable of seating up to 19 passengers with customizable cabin configurations, is expected to receive FAA certification in the first half of 2025.

With the G650’s illustrious history coming to a close, Gulfstream now looks to the future with the G800, continuing its legacy of innovation, efficiency, and industry-leading performance.
