Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES), a key arm of the Mahindra Group, today reported a strong start to the year with impressive tractor sales numbers for January 2025.
In the domestic market, the company sold 26,305 tractor units during January 2025—a robust increase from 22,972 units recorded in January 2024, marking a 15% growth. Overall tractor sales, which combine both domestic and export figures, reached 27,557 units compared to 23,948 units in the same period last year. Notably, the exports segment saw a significant boost, with 1,252 tractors sold—a 28% year-over-year increase.
Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., attributed the growth to a confluence of favorable factors. “We have sold 26,305 tractors in the domestic market during January 2025 at a growth of 15% over last year. Better soil moisture levels due to the above-normal southwest monsoon and high-water storage levels in major reservoirs have aided the increase in Rabi sowing. Continued government support on various rural schemes, agricultural subsidies, and expectations of higher budget allocations in the upcoming Union budgets are positives that are set to boost tractor demand going forward. In the exports market, we have sold 1,252 tractors, a growth of 28% over last year,” Sikka said.
The surge in sales is a testament to Mahindra’s strategic positioning within the competitive tractor market. The company’s ability to leverage advantageous weather conditions alongside proactive government initiatives has played a crucial role in driving demand. With a strong focus on quality and innovation, Mahindra continues to solidify its standing both at home and abroad.
As the agriculture sector prepares for the remainder of the season, industry analysts expect that the combination of robust monsoon performance and supportive policy measures will continue to fuel growth in tractor sales. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. remains optimistic about future prospects, positioning itself to meet the evolving needs of India’s vast agricultural community while also expanding its global footprint.
The recent performance not only underscores Mahindra’s leadership in the domestic market but also highlights its potential in the export arena, setting a positive tone for the rest of the fiscal year.
