New Delhi: Kia India has raced ahead in the competitive compact SUV segment, achieving a remarkable milestone with its New Sonet crossing 1 lakh unit sales in just 11 months. Launched in January 2024 with a starting price of ₹7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the New Sonet has consistently sold nearly 10,000 units per month, cementing its place as a favorite among modern SUV buyers.

Reflecting on this achievement, Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing, Kia India, said, “This milestone underscores the immense trust and appreciation from our customers. With its best-in-segment features, the New Sonet has redefined the compact SUV category, offering a perfect blend of style, performance, and technology. Key Highlights of Kia Sonet’s Success:

  • Petrol Variants Lead the Pack: A substantial 76% of buyers opted for the petrol-powered Sonet, while diesel variants made up the remaining 24%.
  • Tech-Savvy Buyers Favor Automatics: Automatic and intelligent manual transmissions (IMT) collectively contributed to 34% of total sales, showcasing a shift towards convenience-focused driving.
  • Sunroof Craze: The feature-rich variants equipped with sunroofs proved a hit, accounting for a whopping 79% of sales.

The New Sonet’s appeal lies in its rich feature set:

  • Safety First: 15 robust standard safety features complemented by 10 ADAS Level 1 capabilities.
  • Tech-Driven Comfort: Over 70 connected car features, catering to tech-savvy consumers.
  • Lowest Maintenance Cost: Kia promises the lowest maintenance cost in the segment, with savings of 16% and 14% for petrol and diesel variants, respectively.

Available in 22 variants, the New Sonet offers a wide range of customization, with six powertrain options, five interior colors, and eleven exterior finishes, including a trendy matte finish.
