Cuddalore | December 07, 2024 – The Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the philanthropic arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited, has taken a significant step toward strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Tamil Nadu’s Cuddalore district. The Foundation invested INR 1.1 crore to provide 140 advanced and essential medical equipment to the Government Hospital in Thittagudi and six Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Mangalur Block.
The equipment was officially handed over by Gopalakrishnan Chathapuram Sivaramakrishnan, Trustee of HMIF, to Dr. Sebanandham, Chief Medical Officer of Thittagudi, and Dr. Thirumavalavan, Block Medical Officer of Mangalur Block. The event was graced by C.V. Ganesan, Minister for Labour Welfare & Skill Development, Government of Tamil Nadu, along with senior health officials including Dr. Hiriyan Ravikumar, Joint Director of Health, and Dr. S Porkodi, District Health Officer.
Bridging Healthcare Gaps with Advanced Technology
The contribution includes vital equipment such as a digital X-ray machine with a printer, double dome OT light, biphasic defibrillators, biochemistry and CBC analyzers, and baby warmers. These tools aim to address critical healthcare needs, including emergency services, maternal and child health, and chronic illness management. The upgrades are expected to benefit hundreds of patients monthly, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and treatment quality in underserved areas.
“Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right, and this initiative is part of our commitment to bridging healthcare disparities in rural communities,” said Gopalakrishnan. “Through our global vision, ‘Progress for Humanity,’ we aim to create sustainable and inclusive growth for all.”
Transforming Lives Through Philanthropy
Acknowledging the contribution, C.V. Ganesan remarked, “Hyundai Motor India Foundation’s generosity is a testament to their dedication to community welfare. The new medical equipment will empower healthcare workers to better serve the community and improve outcomes for patients. Initiatives like this are crucial for saving lives and fostering a healthier society.”
The HMIF’s healthcare efforts in Cuddalore are part of their flagship project, “Sparsh Sanjeevani,” which focuses on improving public health infrastructure in rural India. In 2023, the Foundation also donated two Advanced Life Support Ambulances to the Government Hospital in Thittagudi and the Mangalur PHC.
Driving Progress in Rural Healthcare
By equipping healthcare centers with modern technology, HMIF’s latest contribution underscores its commitment to addressing the healthcare challenges faced by underserved populations. The initiative not only bolsters medical infrastructure but also reflects Hyundai’s larger vision of nurturing progress and accessibility for communities in need.
