VW Virtus Achieves 50,000 Sales Milestone, Reinforces Status as India’s Bestselling Premium Sedan of 2024

Volkswagen’s premium sedan Virtus reaches 50,000 domestic sales in under 2.5 years, celebrating strong performance and safety features that resonate with Indian consumers.

Mumbai: Volkswagen India proudly announced a major milestone for its premium sedan, the Virtus, as it crossed 50,000 wholesale units in India within 28 months since its debut. This achievement marks the Virtus as India’s best-selling premium sedan in 2024, with over 17,000 units sold this year alone—a testament to its popularity in the competitive Indian market.

Since its launch in 2022, an average of nearly 60 Virtus sedans have been sold daily, underscoring its position as a favorite among Indian car buyers seeking a blend of dynamic performance, safety, and stylish features. The Virtus GT Plus also holds a national record, covering a maximum distance of 4,654.48 km within a 24-hour endurance drive, highlighting its durability and engineering prowess.

To celebrate this milestone, Volkswagen launched the Virtus GT Line and Virtus GT Plus Sport, introducing a bold, black-themed look to elevate its appeal during the festive season. The Virtus continues to impress with its commitment to safety, offering six airbags as standard and a 5-star GNCAP rating, along with over 40 advanced safety features.

Volkswagen’s India 2.0 models, which include both the Virtus and the Taigun, collectively surpassed the one lakh domestic sales milestone in Q2 of this year. Together, these models have contributed to nearly 18.5% of Volkswagen’s total domestic sales since their introduction, with the company achieving over 6.5 lakh wholesale units across India as of Q3 2024.

Ashish Gupta, Brand Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, expressed gratitude for the customer support that has propelled Virtus to the top, stating, “We are immensely grateful to our customers for making the Volkswagen Virtus India’s No.1 selling premium sedan. Crossing the 50,000 sales mark reinforces our commitment to quality, performance, and safety in the premium sedan segment. The Virtus has carved out a dedicated fanbase and continues to be well-received despite challenges in its category.”

Volkswagen India continues to strengthen its presence, offering customers not only robust, performance-driven vehicles but also enhanced after-sales service to ensure an exceptional ownership experience. The launch of the new Virtus GT Line and Virtus GT Plus Sport promises an array of options that blend aesthetic appeal with functionality, maintaining Volkswagen’s commitment to delivering premium experiences to its customers.
