In a significant move to ease traffic woes in Patiala, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has sanctioned ₹1,255.59 crore for the construction of a 28.9 km, 4-lane access-controlled Northern Patiala Bypass. The ambitious infrastructure project, announced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), is expected to reduce congestion, boost regional connectivity, and facilitate the smooth movement of goods.
The new bypass will complete the ring road around Patiala, alleviating the city’s traffic burden. “This project will be a game-changer for Patiala, enhancing road infrastructure and contributing to the region’s economic growth by streamlining logistics,” said Gadkari in his post.
Designed to improve travel efficiency, the bypass is poised to not only improve the daily commute but also strengthen supply chains by offering better access for commercial transport, positioning Patiala as a crucial hub in Punjab’s growing infrastructure network.
