New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has joined hands with the Indian Air Force (IAF) to launch the Vayu Veer Vijeta Rally, an awe-inspiring 7,000 km journey to honor the bravery and sacrifice of the nation’s heroes. This ambitious rally, featuring 52 Indian Air Force personnel driving 12 Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUVs, will traverse rugged landscapes from the high-altitude Thoise airbase in Ladakh to the far-flung Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. With a ceremonial flag-off on October 1 at the National War Memorial in New Delhi by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the official launch is scheduled for Air Force Day, October 8, at Thoise, one of the world’s highest airbases.
The rally, which will be accompanied by former IAF Chiefs and veterans, will pay tribute to fallen soldiers at numerous war memorials en route, and aims to inspire the nation’s youth to consider a career in the Indian Armed Forces. Along the route, participants will engage with students across schools and colleges, sharing the legacy of valor and sacrifice.
Maruti Suzuki’s off-road powerhouse, the Jimny, has been chosen for this remarkable expedition, showcasing its toughness and endurance on some of India’s most unforgiving terrains. The journey, spanning 16 halts across key cities including Leh, Kargil, Srinagar, and Dehradun, will serve as a testament to the courage of India’s defenders and a platform for youth outreach.
“This rally symbolizes the unwavering spirit of our armed forces,” said Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. “We are honored to be part of this initiative that salutes the dedication of our soldiers, and the Jimny’s participation underlines its robust capabilities, perfectly aligned with the spirit of this mission.”
As participants navigate through treacherous mountains and valleys, this rally serves not only as a tribute but as a beacon of hope, encouraging the next generation to rise to the call of duty.
