In a grand gesture to commemorate the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF), the ‘Vayu Veer Vijeta’ car rally will embark on a remarkable 7,000-kilometer journey from Thoise in Ladakh to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. Set to kick off on October 8, 2024, this ambitious rally will honor the legacy of the IAF, showcasing its storied history, valor, and commitment to the nation.
Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh is set to initiate the send-off for this monumental rally on October 1, 2024, at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. The rally will officially flag off from Thoise, one of the world’s highest air force stations at 3,068 meters above sea level, marking the start of an epic cross-country trek. The grand finale will take place in Tawang on October 29, 2024, bringing the rally to a ceremonial close.
Organized by the Indian Air Force in collaboration with veterans from the Uttarakhand War Memorial, the rally aims to raise awareness about the IAF’s legacy of bravery, their role in various military operations, and the incredible rescues conducted over the decades. It also seeks to inspire young Indians to consider a career in service to their country.
A total of 52 air warriors, including women, will take turns driving during the rally. Notably, former IAF Chiefs will also join in different stages of the journey, adding their weight to the celebration. Along the way, the team will make 16 stops, where they will engage with students at colleges and universities, sharing stories of heroism and inspiring the next generation.
Coordinated by the IAF’s Adventure Cell, this rally is a testament to the indomitable spirit of the air warriors. It promises to be a powerful reminder of the IAF’s ongoing dedication to safeguarding the skies and the nation, while also connecting with people from diverse parts of the country.
