Mahindra Expands Education Initiative: 1,000 Scholarships for Daughters of Truck Drivers

Empowering Truck Drivers’ Daughters with Educational Support, 10,000+ Beneficiaries to Date

Pune, September 17, 2024: In a continued effort to support the education of young women, Mahindra Truck and Bus Division (MTBD), part of the Mahindra Group, has announced the latest installment of its “Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan” initiative. This year, 1,000 new scholarships worth ₹10,000 each will be awarded to the daughters of truck drivers who have successfully passed the 10th standard and are pursuing higher education in the fiscal year 2024-25.

Launched in 2014, the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan has already supported the dreams of 10,029 young women, helping them pursue their academic aspirations, regardless of whether their fathers own Mahindra commercial vehicles. The initiative aims to uplift the daughters of truck drivers by easing financial barriers and promoting gender equity in education.

In honor of Drivers Day 2024, Mahindra will award these scholarships through a rigorous selection process conducted across 75 transport hubs nationwide. This endeavor highlights the company’s long-standing commitment to supporting truck drivers and their families, fostering a culture of education and opportunity.

“Through the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan, we are not only providing financial support but also opening doors to brighter futures for these young women,” said Vinod Sahay, President of Trucks, Buses, CE, Aerospace & Defence Businesses, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. “We believe that investing in their education will empower them to become leaders and key contributors to our communities and the economy.”

Jalaj Gupta, Business Head – Commercial Vehicles, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., echoed this sentiment, stating, “Our goal is to uplift the daughters of truck drivers, encouraging them to pursue their ambitions and create a more equitable society. We hope to see more women not only in education but also eventually entering the commercial vehicle segment, breaking traditional gender barriers.”

The scholarships will be disbursed through direct bank transfers, along with certificates recognizing the girls’ achievements. The official felicitation ceremonies will take place at select locations from February to March 2025.

Through the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan, Mahindra continues to pave the way for brighter futures, one scholarship at a time, transforming lives and shaping the next generation of empowered women.
