Nationwide Rollout Promises Enhanced Safety and Efficiency for Officers
Dearborn, MI, August 7, 2024 – Ford Pro has officially launched the 2025 Ford Police Interceptor Utility, a vehicle designed to meet the demanding needs of law enforcement agencies across the United States. As part of America’s top-selling police vehicle lineup, this latest model is now being delivered to departments nationwide, offering advanced technology, improved safety features, and an eco-friendly hybrid powertrain.
The 2025 Police Interceptor Utility continues Ford’s tradition of leading the market in pursuit-rated vehicles. A standout feature of the new model is its standard hybrid powertrain, which significantly reduces fuel consumption during idle times—a common scenario for patrol vehicles. This innovation could save agencies up to 838 gallons of fuel per year, potentially lowering operational costs by approximately $17,500 (INR 14.69 lakh) over a six-year period.
Lindsey Bertino, Ford Pro’s Police Vehicle Marketing Manager, highlighted the practical benefits of the new model. “With officers spending considerable time idling during their shifts, the hybrid powertrain is a game-changer. Additionally, by standardizing critical features like the Police Perimeter Alert, we’re making it easier for fleet managers to ensure their teams have the tools they need.”
The Police Perimeter Alert system is a key feature of the 2025 model, providing officers with enhanced situational awareness. This system automatically detects nearby threats, activating the rear camera and locking the doors to ensure officer safety. Another innovative feature is the Police Engine Idle, allowing officers to secure their vehicle while keeping the engine running to power essential onboard equipment.
For added protection, the 2025 model offers optional ballistic panels for the front doors, capable of resisting various firearm rounds, including armor-piercing bullets.
Ford has also introduced several driver-assist technologies in the new model, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Reverse Brake Assist, which collectively enhance officer safety in various driving conditions.
The 2025 Police Interceptor Utility offers three powertrain options to accommodate different needs and budgets, ranging from a 3.3-liter V6 hybrid to a high-performance 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost engine. The vehicle also features a new 12.3-inch LCD digital instrument cluster, a Manual Police Pursuit Mode for high-performance driving, and over-the-air updates to keep the vehicle’s software up-to-date.
Departments can further customize the vehicle with the Ford Pro Vehicle Integration System 2.0, which simplifies the installation of additional police equipment. The system includes remappable switches on the steering wheel, giving officers easy access to lights, sirens, and other essential tools.
As the 2025 Ford Police Interceptor Utility begins its rollout, it reinforces Ford’s commitment to supporting law enforcement with reliable, cutting-edge vehicles. Assembled at Ford’s Chicago Assembly Plant, this latest model is part of a broader lineup of police vehicles that continue to be the preferred choice for agencies across the country.
With more than 700 commercial vehicle service centers nationwide, Ford ensures that these vehicles remain in optimal condition, keeping officers on the beat and ready to serve their communities.
