Red Bull Unveils the RB17: A Hypercar Built for Speed and Innovation

Goodwood Festival of Speed, UK — The motoring world witnessed the unveiling of the highly anticipated RB17 at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed today. The latest masterpiece from Oracle Red Bull Racing was introduced by team principal and CEO Christian Horner, group chief technical officer Adrian Newey, and Red Bull Advanced Technologies technical director Rob Gray.

Designed by the visionary Adrian Newey in collaboration with Red Bull Advanced Technologies, the RB17 marks a significant milestone in the team’s 20-year legacy of Formula One innovation. This hypercar is the culmination of expertise that has secured Oracle Red Bull Racing six Constructors’ titles. It features a cutting-edge two-seater carbon fibre monocoque chassis, housing a semi-stressed mid-mounted naturally aspirated V10 engine capable of redlining at 15,000 rpm.

The RB17’s engineering marvel doesn’t stop at its powerhouse engine. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a sophisticated carbon fibre gearbox. Weighing under 900 kg and boasting over 1,200 horsepower, the RB17 delivers performance metrics that rival contemporary F1 cars, achieving lap times and top speeds exceeding 350 kph. Despite its formidable specifications, it remains user-friendly and manageable for everyday operation.

Red Bull Advanced Technologies has taken full responsibility for the RB17’s lifecycle, from initial concept to final delivery. Limited to just 50 units, this exclusive hypercar ensures that each customer is treated to a bespoke experience. New owners are not just buying a car; they are being welcomed into the Red Bull family. This journey includes access to an array of track events at some of the world’s most iconic circuits, comprehensive driver development programs, and customization options that allow each RB17 to be tailored to the owner’s exact preferences.

Christian Horner expressed his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to reveal the RB17 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This project is one of the most authentic and exhilarating ventures Red Bull Advanced Technologies has ever embarked upon. With our extensive legacy in F1 and as a performance-focused organization, it was only natural for us to design our hypercar. The RB17 is a testament to our commitment to technical innovation, achievement, and emotional appeal. I am incredibly proud of the team and delighted to see it debut. We anticipate the RB17 becoming a future classic.”

Adrian Newey, the genius behind the design, shared his thoughts on the project: “I have long envisioned creating our hypercar, from concept to delivery. The RB17 embodies everything we stand for: unrivaled power, speed, and aesthetic beauty. Its adaptability ensures that the thrill of driving at F1 speeds can be shared with a companion, thanks to its two-seater design.”

Rob Gray added, “The RB17 project has been a remarkable opportunity for Red Bull Advanced Technologies to demonstrate our engineering prowess and innovative solutions. We eagerly look forward to seeing these cars in action on racetracks, delivering joy to racing enthusiasts and automotive aficionados alike.”

As the RB17 takes its first bow on the world stage, it symbolizes not just a hypercar but a beacon of Red Bull’s relentless pursuit of excellence in the automotive realm. With its blend of groundbreaking technology, performance, and exclusivity, the RB17 is set to redefine the standards of hypercars and cement its place in automotive history.
