The Swedish Hypercar Maker Sets Four New World Records, Redefining Speed and Performance Benchmarks
Koenigsegg Automotive has once again proven its dominance in the realm of high-performance megacars by breaking its own 0-400-0 km/h world record. On June 27th, at an airfield in Örebro, Sweden, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut, driven by the skilled test driver Markus Lundh, achieved a new milestone, solidifying the brand’s reputation for innovation and extreme performance.
A Legacy of Speed
In 2023, the Koenigsegg Regera set the 0-400-0 km/h record at the same location, clocking an impressive 28.81 seconds. Not one to rest on their laurels, Koenigsegg returned in 2024 with the Jesko Absolut, a car meticulously engineered for straight-line speed. This latest achievement not only surpassed the previous record but also established three additional world records in the process.
The Jesko Absolut: Designed for Excellence
The Jesko Absolut is a marvel of automotive engineering, designed specifically to minimize drag and maximize speed. With a smaller frontal area, targeted venting for high-pressure air release, and a lack of active aerodynamics, the Jesko Absolut boasts one of the lowest drag coefficients in the hypercar world at just 0.278.
Record-Breaking Performance
The Jesko Absolut completed the 0-400-0 km/h run in a staggering 27.83 seconds, nearly a full second faster than the Regera’s 2023 record. Additionally, the car set three more records:
- 0-400 km/h in 18.82 seconds
- 0-250-0 mph in 28.27 seconds
- 0-250 mph in 19.20 seconds
Optimal Conditions for Peak Performance
The record-setting run took place in the early hours of Thursday, June 27th, under ideal conditions. After preliminary runs on June 26th, which were hampered by higher ambient air and track temperatures, the team found perfect conditions the following morning. With calm winds and cooler temperatures, the Jesko Absolut was primed for success.
The car used for the run was a standard Jesko Absolut, as delivered to customers, equipped with E85 fuel and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tires. The only modifications were a roll cage for safety and a One:1 driver seat, preferred by Markus Lundh for such high-speed events. Data from the run was recorded using Racelogic’s industry-standard timing equipment and verified by their headquarters in the UK.
Christian von Koenigsegg’s Vision
Christian von Koenigsegg, the visionary behind the brand, expressed his excitement about the record run and the future potential of the Jesko Absolut. “This record run validated the accuracy of the simulated and calculated performance of the Jesko Absolut, which gives us great confidence in its ability to outright be the fastest, fully homologated production car in the world. Now it is all down to tire testing, development, and approval before we can finally make an attempt at that record. In parallel, we plan to see what kind of records the Jesko Attack can achieve, given its astonishing track performance.”
Looking Ahead
With these new records, Koenigsegg continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in the automotive world. The Jesko Absolut’s achievements not only highlight the brand’s commitment to excellence but also pave the way for future innovations and records. As Koenigsegg explores the limits of speed and performance, the automotive world eagerly anticipates what comes next from this pioneering manufacturer.
