New VW Golf GTI Clubsport Debuts at Nürburgring 24-Hour Race

Volkswagen Unveils Its Most Powerful GTI Yet with 300 PS and 267 km/h Top Speed

The automotive world was abuzz as Volkswagen unveiled the new Golf GTI Clubsport during the iconic Nürburgring 24-hour race, marking a memorable start to Germany’s largest motorsport event. This highly anticipated debut showcased a host of enhancements, including a sharper design, advanced infotainment system, and specialized sports running gear, all celebrated during the 50th anniversary of the Golf in the “Green Hell.”

A Striking Debut

Unveiled on the Ring Boulevard, the new Golf GTI Clubsport captivated motorsport fans with its powerful and distinctive new look. The redesigned front end, enhanced LED Plus headlights, and illuminated VW logo add to its dynamic appearance. A large roof spoiler ensures maximum downforce, complemented by redesigned LED tail light clusters.

Performance-Oriented Design

The 19-inch Queenstown alloy wheels, reminiscent of the classic Detroit wheel, and the new, lightweight 19-inch Warmenau forged wheels enhance both aesthetics and performance. The interior boasts a multifunction leather sports steering wheel and an advanced infotainment system, featuring the new IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT integration, ensuring drivers can focus on the road.

Exceptional Power and Handling

Under the hood, the GTI turbocharged engine delivers 400 Nm of torque and an output of 221 kW (300 PS), managed through an electronically controlled front differential lock. The optional DCC adaptive chassis control fine-tunes the ride, while the exclusive Special driving profile optimizes dynamics for the Nürburgring’s unique track characteristics. The Golf GTI Clubsport accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h, extendable to 267 km/h with the Race package.

Celebrating the Golf Legacy

Volkswagen’s focus on the 24-hour race extends beyond the new GTI Clubsport. The Max Kruse Racing team, featuring drivers Benny Leuchter, Johan Kristoffersson, Nico Otto, and Heiko Hammel, competes in a 348 PS Golf GTI Clubsport 24h. The event also features three classic first-generation Golf GTIs in the 24h Classic race, highlighting the rich history and evolution of this beloved model.

The new Golf GTI Clubsport’s world premiere at Nürburgring not only set the stage for the 24-hour race but also celebrated five decades of the Golf, cementing its legacy as an icon in the automotive world.
