Porsche Unveils High-Performance Hybrid: The New 911 Carrera GTS

Porsche Enhances Iconic 911 with Super-Lightweight Hybrid System

In a groundbreaking update, Porsche has introduced a significantly enhanced version of its iconic 911 sports car. The new 911 Carrera GTS is the first street-legal 911 to feature a super-lightweight performance hybrid system. Alongside this, the 911 Carrera will also be available immediately upon the model’s launch.

The newly developed 3.6-litre powertrain system offers improved driving performance, boasting a combined fuel consumption of 11.0 – 10.5 l/100 km and CO₂ emissions of 251 – 239 g/km (provisional values). The 911 Carrera GTS Coupé accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds, reaching a top speed of 312 km/h. Additionally, the 911 Carrera features a 3.0-litre twin-turbo boxer engine, providing a power boost over its predecessor with combined fuel consumption of 10.7 – 10.1 l/100 km and CO₂ emissions of 244 – 230 g/km.

Innovative Hybrid System Inspired by Motorsport

Porsche’s engineers drew inspiration from motorsport to develop the hybrid system for the new 911 Carrera GTS models. The lightweight T-Hybrid system includes a newly developed electric exhaust gas turbocharger, which enhances responsiveness and efficiency. The powertrain also incorporates a permanent magnet synchronous motor integrated into an upgraded eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, providing extra drive torque and a power boost.

The T-Hybrid system, paired with a newly developed 3.6-litre boxer engine, delivers a total system output of 398 kW (541 PS) and 610 Nm of torque. This results in a significant power increase over its predecessor, along with highly dynamic driving characteristics and reduced CO₂ emissions.

Revamped Design and Advanced Features

The new 911 Carrera GTS features an optimised suspension with rear-axle steering and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control for enhanced stability and handling. The sports car’s exterior design has been streamlined, with new bumpers, matrix LED headlights, and adaptive cooling air flaps to improve aerodynamics and performance.

Inside, the 911 boasts a fully digital cockpit with a 12.6-inch curved display, offering up to seven customizable views. The Porsche Communication Management system has also been upgraded, with deeper integration of Apple CarPlay®, native apps like Spotify and Apple Music, and the option for video streaming while parked.

Available Now

The new 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera GTS can be ordered now as Coupé and Cabriolet variants. The 911 Carrera GTS also offers all-wheel drive and the Targa body variant. Both models come standard with Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK).

Porsche has modernised four of its six model lines within a few months, including the Panamera, Taycan, Macan, and now the 911. CEO Oliver Blume highlights the brand’s youthful and attractive product portfolio, which offers more customisation options and exclusive experiences for customers.
