Production Underway for Hennessey’s Supercharged H850 Mustang Dark Horse
Sealy, Texas (May 21, 2024) – Hennessey, the renowned hypercar manufacturer and high-performance vehicle specialist, has officially revealed the impressive performance data for its latest creation, the supercharged H850 Mustang Dark Horse. Now in production at Hennessey’s headquarters in Sealy, Texas, this revamped version of the iconic pony car boasts a staggering 850 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, representing a 70 percent power upgrade over the stock model.
The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, a performance variant of the acclaimed S650 Mustang, originally comes equipped with a naturally aspirated Gen-4 Coyote 5.0-liter V8 engine. Hennessey’s engineers have taken this foundation and added a high-performance supercharger, a high-flow air induction system, upgraded fuel injectors, a fuel pump, and a meticulously developed engine management system to transform its performance.
While the factory-standard Dark Horse can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and complete the quarter-mile in 12 seconds at 118.4 mph, Hennessey’s H850 version surpasses these figures significantly. The H850 achieves 0-60 mph in just 3.2 seconds and finishes the quarter-mile in 10.9 seconds at 133 mph.
John Hennessey, the company’s founder and CEO, expressed his enthusiasm: “Our supercharged H850 Mustang Dark Horse builds on Ford’s commitment to provide automotive enthusiasts with passion products like the snarling V8-powered S650 Mustang. We’re excited to unleash Hennessey’s passion for performance on America’s most iconic muscle car with all the sights, sounds, smells, and sensations that get our blood pumping!”
Hennessey’s modifications to the stock Ford Mustang even outshine the upcoming $300,000 Ford Mustang GTD, a street-legal race car with 800 horsepower. In comparison, the H850 offers a compelling combination of supercar performance and the exhilarating soundtrack of a supercharged V8 at a more accessible price point.
In addition to its formidable powertrain, the H850 Mustang Dark Horse can be customized with Hennessey Heritage Graphics, forged performance wheels in gloss anthracite, Hennessey and H850 badging, embroidered headrests, and a serial-numbered engine plaque. These enhancements ensure that the H850 stands out both in terms of performance and aesthetics.
Available in both automatic and 6-speed manual variants, the H850 Mustang Dark Horse is backed by Hennessey’s comprehensive 3-year / 36,000-mile limited warranty. Production is already underway, and enthusiasts can place orders through authorized Ford retailers or directly with Hennessey for global shipping.
