Munich has become the stage for BMW Group’s latest revelation – the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X, marking a pioneering stride into the future of Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs). This vision vehicle embodies the Neue Klasse ethos, blending cutting-edge aesthetics, technology, and sustainability, slated for series production in 2025 at the BMW Group Plant in Debrecen, Hungary.
Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the BMW AG Board of Management, shared insights into the expansive future of BMW’s model lineup, emphasizing the Neue Klasse’s role in reshaping the brand’s identity while staying true to its essence. The BMW Vision Neue Klasse, initially presented at IAA 2023, spotlighted the brand’s forward-looking approach to sedans. The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X now extends this vision to the BMW X models, promising an active lifestyle, efficient dynamics, and a confident stance.
The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X is distinguished by its innovative drive and chassis control, promising an unprecedented level of dynamic performance, precision, and efficiency. This leap forward is powered by a new software stack developed in-house, featuring two of the four new “super-brains” that redefine the driving experience.
Design-wise, the Vision Neue Klasse X reimagines the BMW X models, emphasizing a strong character through a pared-down design language that enhances both the vehicle’s exterior and interior. The increase in ground clearance, enabled by the fully-electric vehicle architecture, offers a more spacious interior, accentuated by large window areas and a panoramic glass roof.
Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design, highlights the X models’ enduring character: monolithic, clean, and with a distinctive vertical interpretation of the BMW light signature. This new brand look contributes significantly to the Vision Vehicle’s commanding presence.
The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X also introduces the Hypersonx Wheel, a new digital function that allows car occupants to enjoy a personalized sound experience, enhancing the immersive and holistic user experience.
In terms of sustainability, the sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology brings efficiency to new heights, complemented by the use of a novel, completely plant-based material “Verdana” for the interior. This initiative, along with the use of maritime plastics and a focus on recyclability, underscores BMW’s commitment to reducing its CO2 footprint through more resource-efficient production and supply chains.
As BMW gears up for the Neue Klasse’s launch in 2025, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X stands as a testament to the brand’s relentless pursuit of innovation, sustainability, and driving pleasure, heralding a new chapter in the history of electric Sports Activity Vehicles.
