GUANGZHOU, China – XPeng Inc., a prominent player in the Chinese smart electric vehicle market, unveiled its latest creation – the XPeng X9. This large 7-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), priced between RMB 359,800 and 419,800 (INR 42.14 lakh to INR 49.17 lakh), is now available for immediate delivery in China. Built on the innovative SEPA2.0 architecture, the X9 is set to redefine the smart driving experience, offering unparalleled interior space, agility, and safety.
The XPeng X9 is a remarkable blend of technology and comfort, featuring a transformative design that allows it to switch from a spacious 7-seater to a luxurious 4-seater SUV with the click of a button. This flexibility offers the comfort of an MPV and the versatility of an SUV, catering to the diverse needs of modern families.
He Xiaopeng, CEO and Chairman of XPeng, emphasizes the company’s commitment to enhancing smart EV technologies and capturing a significant market share. The launch of the X9 is a strategic move to enrich XPeng’s product portfolio and promote the adoption of autonomous driving technologies.
The X9 boasts the company’s advanced XNGP ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) and the next-gen smart in-car operating system, XOS Tianji. These technologies enable the vehicle to handle a variety of driving scenarios autonomously, paving the way for the future of driverless cars.
XOS Tianji, an AI-driven system, offers a comprehensive suite of in-car features. It includes multi-tasking capabilities, a customizable XDock, real-time surrounding reality display, comprehensive safety warnings, and an intelligent voice assistant, enhancing the user experience dramatically.
The XPeng X9 offers an unrivaled interior, with a floor space of 7.7 square meters. It can comfortably accommodate seven passengers along with their camping or sports equipment. The electrically foldable third-row seats increase the boot space to a massive 2,554 liters.
The vehicle is not just about space; it also offers luxury features like an in-car hot and cold smart refrigerator, a 21.4-inch infotainment system, and zero-gravity reclining sofas. The world’s first wrap-around integrated central AC system in the X9 adds to the luxurious experience, providing a quiet and gentle airflow.
In terms of handling, the XPeng X9 challenges the stereotype of MPVs with poor handling. Its active rear-wheel steering system and intelligent dual-chamber air suspension ensure a small turning radius of 5.4 meters, offering agility akin to compact SUVs.
The X9’s charging and power capabilities are equally impressive. It features an 800V high-voltage SiC platform and 3C battery cells, delivering a maximum range of 702 km CLTC and an energy consumption of 16.2 kWh per 100 km. The 800V SiC platform allows for adding up to 300 km of range with just a 10-minute charge.
Safety is a paramount concern for XPeng. The X9’s body is constructed using the largest mass-produced die-casting machine, integrating aluminum die-casting in both the front and rear. The vehicle boasts a torsional rigidity of 46,000 N·m/deg and incorporates 19 ring-shaped safety designs, meeting the safety standards of China, the US, and Europe.
In 2023, XPeng achieved significant milestones, including the introduction of the SEPA2.0 architecture, the launch of new models, and a record of 11 consecutive months of increasing deliveries, culminating in 141,601 units sold annually.
Starting January 2, 2024, XPeng’s ADAS XNGP will expand its coverage to 243 cities in China, further advancing the company’s position in the realm of intelligent driving technology.
