A uniquely restored 1990 Tata Telcoline, enhanced with an imported Chevrolet Silverado grill, has hit the market, drawing attention from vintage vehicle enthusiasts. The pickup, registered in Karnataka (KA 12), boasts valid documentation until 2027, with insurance coverage extending to December 24.
The vehicle’s restoration journey is as intriguing as its appearance. The Chevrolet K1500 Silverado grill, a central feature, was imported from the USA by a Kerala-based YouTube vlogger known as ‘Mallu Traveller’. The grill, sourced from a junkyard during his travels, was initially split into two for transport and meticulously rejoined in India.
This Tata Telcoline isn’t just about looks; it’s equipped with new tyres and alloys, a revamped interior, power steering, and power windows. The rear body of the truck is modified to carry up to three motorbikes, complete with a wheel choke for secure transportation. The suspension has been lowered for a sleeker profile, and all electrical work is up to date.
The restoration process, taking approximately 1.5 years, reflects a blend of dedication and craftsmanship. Located in Virajpet, the truck is available for 6 lakhs, marking its second ownership. It features a manual transmission and a diesel engine.
The Tata Telcoline, a significant model in Tata Motors’ history, was initially known as the Tatamobile 206 in India and underwent a name change to the Tata 207 DI in 2002. Internationally, it’s been marketed under various names, including Tatamobile, Tata Loadbeta, and Tata Pick Up. This sale offers a unique opportunity to own a piece of automotive history, customized with a blend of Indian and American truck cultures.
