Bengaluru: In a move proving that Toyota builds more than just reliable cars (now apparently reliable classrooms too), Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has rolled out its Multimedia Learning Infrastructure Initiative (MLII) across the Malavalli Education Block in Karnataka’s Mandya district, digitally connecting 37 government high schools under a technology-enabled teaching network.
The CSR initiative aims to bridge the rural-urban education divide by equipping classrooms with smart digital infrastructure, enabling live teaching sessions and uniform curriculum delivery across multiple schools simultaneously.
A Broadcast Classroom Model for Rural Education
Under the initiative, six broadcasting and recording stations will transmit live lessons to 31 receiving stations, allowing teachers to conduct curriculum-based sessions that reach multiple classrooms at once — essentially turning the education system into a “live educational channel,” minus the remote-control fights.
Each digitised classroom is equipped with:
- DLED touchscreen smart boards
- Wi-Fi connectivity
- Cameras and uninterrupted power backup
- Pre-loaded NCERT and state-aligned digital content
The setup is designed to create a more engaging audio-visual learning environment while addressing teacher shortages and infrastructure gaps often faced by rural schools.
Leaders Applaud the Initiative
The project was inaugurated last month by P. M. Narendra Swamy, MLA of Malavalli Taluk and Chairman of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, alongside senior Toyota Kirloskar Motor leadership.
Praising the initiative, he said technology-driven education ensures students receive quality learning opportunities regardless of location, adding that such digitisation will help build a stronger academic foundation and future career prospects for students in the region.
Toyota: Education is the Engine of Social Progress
Sudeep Dalvi, Chief Communication Officer, Project Senior Vice President & Head State Affairs, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, emphasised that education remains central to community development.
He noted that the initiative reflects Toyota’s commitment to ensuring rural students receive the same opportunities as their urban counterparts and aligns with the company’s broader philosophy of empowering communities and building a brighter future.
Expected Impact Beyond Just Screens and Software
Toyota expects the initiative to deliver long-term benefits including:
- Improved access to quality education
- Teacher empowerment with standardised digital tools
- Higher student engagement through audio-visual learning
- Reduced dropout rates
- Stronger digital literacy among students
- Uniform curriculum delivery across schools
- Better academic outcomes and literacy levels
The program is being implemented in coordination with the Malavalli Taluk Education Department and the Government of Karnataka, and is expected to benefit thousands of students over the coming years.
