Kia India hits the accelerator in 2026 with 10.3% YoY growth, clocks 27,603 January sales

New-generation Seltos leads charge, Sonet stays strong, Carens Clavis and Clavis EV gain traction

New Delhi: Kia India has kicked off calendar year 2026 on a high note, reporting total sales of 27,603 units in January, registering a healthy 10.3% year-on-year growth over 25,025 units sold in the same month last year. In simpler terms: while many of us were still struggling with New Year resolutions, Kia was already busy delivering cars.

The growth story in January was powered by steady demand across Kia’s core portfolio. The new-generation Kia Seltos drew strong market response, the Kia Sonet continued to hold fort in the compact SUV segment, and the Kia Carens Clavis along with the Clavis EV witnessed growing customer traction—proving that families and early EV adopters are both finding reasons to smile.

The new Seltos, already one of the most influential mid-size SUVs in India, appears set to play a central role in Kia’s next growth phase. Meanwhile, the Sonet remains the brand’s reliable all-rounder in the high-volume compact SUV space. On the versatility front, the Carens line-up has strengthened Kia’s presence in the RV and EV segments, indicating rising customer preference for flexible, future-ready mobility solutions—basically cars that can handle both school runs and long weekend getaways.

Commenting on the performance, Atul Sood, Senior Vice-President, Sales & Marketing, Kia India, said,
“The encouraging start to 2026 reflects the continued trust customers place in the Kia brand. The positive response to the new-generation Seltos, steady demand for the Sonet, and growing popularity of the Carens Clavis and Clavis EV underline the strength and balance of our portfolio. This performance reinforces our focus on offering well-differentiated, future-ready products across segments, while consistently enhancing the overall ownership experience.”

Kia’s product strategy continues to revolve around design, technology and safety. While the Seltos and Sonet pack in advanced connectivity and driver-assistance features for their respective segments, the Carens Clavis stands out with flexible 6- and 7-seater layouts and a practical three-row cabin. The Clavis EV—Kia’s first Made-in-India electric vehicle—adds a practical seven-seat EV option with connected tech, comfort and everyday usability. In short, it’s the kind of lineup that tries to please both the tech geek and the family planner.

Looking ahead, Kia India seems well-positioned to sustain momentum in the coming months, backed by a balanced portfolio and a customer-centric approach that focuses on timely product upgrades and evolving market needs.

Strengthening its nationwide presence, Kia India currently operates 841 touchpoints across 376 cities, supported by 122 Certified Pre-Owned outlets. This extensive network ensures customers have easy access to sales, service and ownership support—because in India, buying a car is only half the journey; finding a good service centre is the real long-term relationship.
