Toyota’s “Healthy Engine” Initiative: Shifting Gears in Uttarakhand’s Healthcare Drive!

Udham Singh Nagar – Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) isn’t just engineering cars anymore — it’s engineering healthier lives! In a heartwarming twist of corporate horsepower, TKM has turbocharged healthcare infrastructure in Uttarakhand’s Khatima Block by installing vital medical and non-medical equipment across three health centers — ensuring that when life hits a speed bump, there’s a smoother recovery lane ahead.

A CSR Drive That Truly Cares

Under its FY 2025–26 CSR roadmap, TKM has equipped the Sub District Hospital in Khatima and the Primary Health Centres in Deori and Chakarpur — collectively benefitting nearly 3,00,000 community members. Think of it as Toyota’s way of performing a full “health service check” on the region, replacing outdated components with state-of-the-art medical machinery.

This noble pit stop is part of a larger MoU between TKM and the Government of Uttarakhand, targeting over 3.7 lakh citizens through initiatives in education, environment, community upliftment, and healthcare — basically, a full social maintenance package.

Mothers, Babies, and Better Beginnings

The Khatima block — serving a population of three lakh — often faces challenges with maternal and child healthcare. With the new equipment, these centers can now safely manage over 1,500 maternity cases annually, reducing complications and ensuring more newborns take their first breath in comfort, not crisis.

As Vikram Gulati, Country Head & EVP, Corporate Affairs and Governance at TKM, put it,

“We’re not just assembling cars — we’re assembling hope. Every mother deserves care, and every child deserves a healthy start. This initiative helps drive that mission forward.”

Appreciation from the Local Pit Crew

Local authorities, including Mr. Divesh Shashni, Chief Development Officer (CDO), Udham Singh Nagar, applauded the effort, calling it “a powerful step toward transforming maternal healthcare outcomes.” Clearly, Toyota’s commitment has hit top gear in community goodwill — no engine noise, just heartfelt applause.

Toyota’s Long Road of Responsibility

Since 2001, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has been in the fast lane of social impact — spanning Education, Environment, Road Safety, Skill Development, Health & Hygiene, and Disaster Management. Their CSR isn’t about checkboxes — it’s about checkpoints for progress.

From building cars that move people to building initiatives that move society — Toyota proves once again that true mobility means moving hearts, not just wheels.
