Maruti Suzuki Hires a New Navigator – Corporate Planning Gets a Sunil-Shine Upgrade!

New Delhi – In a move that signals fresh strategy with a dash of spreadsheet wizardry, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has revved up its corporate planning engine by appointing Sunil Kakkar as its new Whole-time Director. Effective April 1, 2025, Kakkar will take the wheel as Director (Corporate Planning), ensuring the company’s roadmap is as smooth as its Swift.

The appointment was approved during the Board of Directors’ meeting held earlier today. Kakkar, a man whose DIN (08041054) may not roll off the tongue, but whose credentials certainly do, brings with him years of experience in steering corporate strategy through both speed bumps and expressways. His term will run through to March 31, 2028 – giving him exactly three years to prove that planning can indeed be as exciting as a turbocharged hatchback.

While he may not be related to any of the board members (corporate nepotism has been given a firm “no parking” sign), Kakkar comes with a clean regulatory record – no debarments, no red lights from SEBI, and presumably, a well-maintained LinkedIn profile.

In a related plot twist, Kenichiro Toyofuku, the outgoing Director (Corporate Planning), is not driving off into the sunset just yet. He’ll be switching lanes to become Director (Sustainability), because saving the planet is the new horsepower.

Maruti Suzuki, known for its small cars and big market share, is clearly tightening its seatbelt for a future of electric dreams, greener roads, and well-charted growth curves. With Kakkar now in the cockpit, expect the company’s planning department to move from 0 to 100 on strategic clarity in record time.

Stay tuned as the auto giant continues to plan, pivot, and perhaps pun a little – all in the pursuit of market dominance and sustainable vroom.
