New Delhi – The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, launched by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, showcased India’s readiness to challenge global competitors in the automotive and mobility sectors. Organized by the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), the event has set the stage for India’s automotive future, particularly in electric vehicles (EVs) and sustainable technologies.
Revolutionizing Mobility for a Viksit Bharat
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Goyal emphasized the pivotal role of the auto component industry, calling it the “heart of Indian automotive progress.” With India already achieving export surpluses in this sector, the Minister underscored the significance of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) in unlocking new global markets.
“The next decade will define India’s roadmap to Viksit Bharat 2047. A $100 billion export target in this sector is achievable, making India truly Atmanirbhar,” Goyal stated. He also unveiled key industry reports, including the ACMA Report on Transitioning to EVs – Opportunities & Impediments, highlighting the nation’s strategy to lead in EV innovation.
Accelerating Towards an Electric Future
Goyal urged the auto industry to seize the opportunity to establish a robust EV ecosystem before other nations dominate the market. He advocated for self-reliance in precision tooling and indigenous equipment production to reduce dependency on foreign suppliers.
“Electric vehicles are not just an environmental necessity; they make compelling economic sense,” he remarked. The Minister also called for a complete shift to electric buses and trucks, emphasizing their cost-efficiency and sustainability. He encouraged first-time buyers to prioritize EVs, envisioning a nationwide transition supported by public-private partnerships (PPPs).
