Chennai’s Marina Beach transformed into a stage for aviation brilliance as the Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrated its 92nd Anniversary on October 6, 2024. With an estimated 1.5 million attendees, one of the world’s longest beaches became a perfect backdrop for an awe-inspiring air show. The event was honored by the presence of Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, MK Stalin, and Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, along with other senior defense officers and government dignitaries.
This year’s theme, Sashakt, Saksham, Atmanirbhar (Potent, Capable, Self-reliant), echoed through the skies as the IAF displayed its unparalleled strength and agility. A dazzling array of aircraft—from advanced fighter jets to helicopters—filled the air, showcasing the power and precision of IAF pilots. The event underscored the IAF’s evolution into a modern, formidable force, aligned with its motto, “Touch the Sky with Glory.”
Key highlights included flypasts featuring indigenous aircraft such as the Tejas fighter jet, Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), Light Combat Helicopter Prachand, and the Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40 (HTT-40). These displays reflected India’s growing strides towards self-reliance (Atmanirbharta) in defense technology. Among the most captivating moments was the low-altitude aerobatics performed by the Sukhoi-30 MKI, a demonstration of the pilots’ elite training and expertise.
The grand finale left the crowd in awe as the Suryakiran and Sarang Aerobatic Teams performed synchronized stunts, painting the sky with their vibrant formations. More than just a celebration, the air show was a vivid statement of India’s strength, empowerment, and unwavering commitment to self-sufficiency in defense.
