BMW Unveils Extended Wheelbase X3 Exclusively for China: A New Standard in Luxury and Space

BMW has introduced an all-new version of its popular Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), the BMW X3, designed exclusively for the Chinese market. For the first time, this model boasts an extended wheelbase, offering enhanced rear legroom and a more luxurious driving experience, tailored specifically to meet the demands of China’s discerning customers. This exclusive variant, built in China for China, is a testament to BMW’s commitment to localizing its offerings to align with regional preferences.

The new BMW X3, with its sophisticated design and spacious interior, is being produced at the Shenyang production site, a state-of-the-art facility operated by BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA), a joint venture between BMW and Brilliance China Automotive Holdings. The plant, which stands as BMW’s latest production facility, emphasizes high-quality, efficient, and sustainable manufacturing processes.

The vehicle’s dimensions are among the largest in its class, with a total length of 4,865 millimeters and a width of 1,920 millimeters. The 110-millimeter increase in wheelbase compared to globally available models significantly enhances interior comfort, especially for rear passengers. BMW’s signature modern design elements, including the long, flowing roofline and the iconic grille with contour lighting, are complemented by five metallic paint finishes available for customization.

Inside, the BMW X3 showcases a blend of luxury and cutting-edge technology. The BMW Curved Display and BMW Interaction Bar, paired with a steering wheel featuring a flattened lower rim and distinctive lighting elements, create a contemporary ambiance. The interior also offers three two-tone color options for the Veganza comfort seats, alongside optional “Crafted Clarity” glass controls for an added touch of elegance. Rear passengers benefit from extra legroom, standard comfort cushions, a center armrest with wireless charging capabilities, and an expansive panoramic glass roof with optional Skylounge lighting.

This new model builds on the success of its predecessor, which was BMW’s best-selling vehicle globally in 2023, with around 156,000 units sold in China alone. The new BMW X3, now in its fourth generation and featuring numerous market-specific enhancements, is poised to continue its dominance in the world’s largest automotive market. With its extended wheelbase and luxury-focused upgrades, the BMW X3 is set to redefine the premium mid-range SAV segment in China.
