Bangalore, 01 August 2024: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has set a new benchmark with its highest-ever monthly sales, reaching 31,656 units in July 2024. This milestone marks the second consecutive month of record-breaking performance for the automotive giant.
Domestic sales were particularly robust, accounting for 29,533 units, while exports contributed an additional 2,123 units. This impressive total represents a remarkable 44% growth compared to July 2023, when 21,911 units were sold. Notably, TKM also saw significant sales in June 2024, with 27,474 units sold.
Year-to-date figures further highlight TKM’s growth trajectory. In the first seven months of 2024, the company sold 181,906 units, a 46% increase from the same period in 2023, which recorded 124,282 units.
Sabari Manohar, Vice President of Sales-Service-Used Car Business at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, expressed his excitement over the company’s performance: “We are thrilled to announce another key milestone with our highest-ever sales performance for July 2024. Demand for all our models remains at an all-time high, especially in the SUV and MPV segments. Our formidable presence in these categories, with models like the Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Rumion, Taisor, Fortuner, Legender, Hilux, and the LC 300, offers robust choices to customers. Our diverse lineup, including the Glanza, Camry Hybrid, and Vellfire, is strategically designed to cater to the evolving and varied needs of our customers, reflecting our commitment to delivering vehicles that align with their preferences and lifestyles.”
Manohar also highlighted the company’s strategic initiatives: “Our operational enhancement strategy, including the addition of a third shift, is supporting strong demand. For certain models, especially the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, a streamlined supply situation has also led to a reduction in waiting periods. Moreover, there is an increasing understanding and appreciation for newer and greener technologies among customers. Our commitment to sustainability, safety, and advanced technology remains at the forefront of our efforts to meet and exceed customer expectations.”
Innovations in customer experience were also emphasized, with TKM expanding its car detailing business, “T GLOSS,” to the Toyota Used Car Outlet (TUCO). This move aims to offer professional car care solutions, ensuring a delightful ownership experience even for used cars.
In a significant corporate development, TKM signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Maharashtra to explore the potential of establishing a Green Field Manufacturing Facility. This initiative underscores the company’s focus on advanced green technologies. Additionally, work on TKM’s third plant in Bidadi near Bangalore, announced in 2023 with an investment of Rs. 3,300 crores, has commenced and is expected to be completed by 2026.
