Bentley’s new fourth-generation Continental GT Speed has made a dramatic entrance at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, marking a significant milestone in automotive innovation and design. Both the coupe and convertible variants of this high-performance grand tourer captivated audiences as they took on the famous Goodwood Hillclimb and were displayed in a bespoke “FOShtank,” an imaginative underwater-themed showcase.
A New Era of Performance and Design
The Continental GT Speed is now Bentley’s most powerful road car ever, boasting an all-new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain that delivers a staggering 782 PS and 1000 Nm of torque. This new power unit not only surpasses the performance of the outgoing W12 engine but also significantly reduces CO2 emissions to just 29 g/km. This leap in power and efficiency aligns perfectly with Goodwood’s theme of “Horseless to Hybrid – Revolutions in Power,” highlighting Bentley’s commitment to a more sustainable future.
The advanced powertrain is complemented by a revolutionary chassis system. The new setup includes two-chamber air springs, dual-valve dampers, Bentley Dynamic Ride (48V active anti-roll control), an electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD), and torque vectoring. These innovations combine to deliver unparalleled body control and ride comfort, making the Continental GT Speed the most dynamically capable Bentley to date. For the first time, the car features a 49:51 rear-biased weight distribution, enhancing its handling characteristics.
Bold New Design DNA
The exterior design of the new Continental GT Speed signals a bold new direction for Bentley. The most significant update in two decades, it features a distinctive new front end with single headlamps, a nod to Bentley’s classic designs from the 1950s. This design evolution is part of Bentley’s broader vision for the future, blending modern aesthetics with timeless elegance.
Inside, Bentley continues to set the standard for luxury and craftsmanship. The world-leading four-seat interior introduces advanced wellness seat technology, air ionisation, three-dimensional leather textures, modern quilting patterns, and a striking new dark chrome finish. These enhancements ensure that the cabin offers an unparalleled blend of comfort, style, and sophistication.
A Unique Goodwood Showcase
Visitors to Goodwood have the opportunity to witness the new Continental GT Speed in action twice a day on the Hillclimb. In addition, a third car is presented in a unique and eye-catching display near the Kinrara Enclosure. This innovative “FOShtank” – a custom-built fish tank inspired by Bentley’s Dream Factory displays in Crewe – playfully celebrates the car’s unofficial ‘Underwater Speed Record,’ where it achieved an astounding 208 mph (335 km/h) through a tunnel.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed has long been a showcase for automotive excellence and innovation. This year, Bentley’s new Continental GT Speed stands out as a symbol of the brand’s commitment to combining performance, sustainability, and luxury in a way that sets new benchmarks for the industry.
As the Festival of Speed continues, the new Continental GT Speed is sure to remain a highlight, captivating audiences with its blend of cutting-edge technology, bold design, and unparalleled luxury. Bentley’s latest creation not only pays homage to its illustrious past but also sets a clear course for the future of high-performance, sustainable motoring.
