Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech Reaches Milestone, 2 out of 5 Tucsons Sold in Europe Are Hybrid or Plug-In Hybrid
Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC) marked a significant achievement on Monday as the two-millionth Hyundai Tucson rolled off the production line at its Nošovice-based plant. This milestone vehicle, sporting a Sailing Blue Pearl finish and equipped with a 1.6 T-GDi HEV engine, is destined for a new owner in the U.K. The Tucson’s popularity underscores its status as Hyundai’s best-selling model in Europe.
“Two million units produced at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech is a significant milestone for our global and also European top seller. Almost from its very beginning the car was designed and produced with the European customer in mind. As it has evolved to become a success story globally and particularly in Europe, it perfectly stands for Hyundai’s customer-centric approach,” said Michael Cole, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe.
The Tucson’s production journey at HMMC began in mid-June 2015 with the third-generation model. Over five years, 1,180,445 units were produced. The current fourth-generation Tucson, which boasts a refreshed design, upgraded interior, and enhanced features, continues to drive strong production numbers. In 2023 alone, 244,495 units were produced, representing about 70 percent of HMMC’s total output. These vehicles are exported to 70 countries, with major European markets including the U.K., Spain, Germany, and France.
Hyundai has expanded its powertrain options for the Tucson, offering both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. These eco-friendly alternatives are increasingly popular, with 40 percent of fourth-generation Tucsons sold in Europe being either hybrid or plug-in hybrid.
Special 20th Anniversary Edition Tucson
In celebration of its 20 years on the market, Hyundai has announced a special 20th Anniversary Edition Tucson. This limited edition will feature unique interior and exterior finishes, with production set to begin at HMMC in August.
