The Volkswagen Tiguan is a compact crossover SUV produced by the German automaker Volkswagen. Introduced in 2007, it was the Volkswagen brand’s second crossover SUV model after the Touareg. The first generation is based on the PQ46 platform, while the second generation, released in 2016, utilizes the Volkswagen Group MQB platform. The name Tiguan is a portmanteau of the German words Tiger (“tiger”) and Leguan (“iguana”). The second generation Tiguan (AD/BW) was unveiled at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September 2015, now built on the Volkswagen Group MQB platform. The updated Tiguan was released on 30 June 2020 and it launched in India on 7 December 2021.
