The lucky number 23 was formally unveiled on 30 October where each piece has come into place for 23XI Racing, the new NASCAR Cup Series team, which is all set to debut in 2021 for driver Bubba Wallace, co-owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin.
The team, led by NBA legend Michael Jordan adjacent with three-time Daytona 500 champion Denny Hamlin, is all prepared to bang on the next year of February 14. Adding to this, earlier in 2020 itself, Bubba Wallace was selected as the driver.
The newly announced racing team recently confirmed that number 23 will going to run the Toyota Camry with support from Toyota Racing Development. In addition, they will be served with the profit from a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing, who Hamlin drives at present for the Cup Series.
As coming into an alliance in a form of the partnership, TRD (Toyota Racing Development, USA) will build the team’s locomotives and provide best class technology, data, along with advanced technical assistance. while , JGR (Joe Gibbs Racing) will produce the chassis, as well as other assistance such as data-sharing to further support in strengthening both the organizations. Also, we will have Mike Wheeler who will work as the crew chief.
The Group Vice President of Toyota Division Marketing, Ed Laukes said, “We are excited to be a part of this new team with Michael, Denny, and Bubba. As a Chicago native, I saw firsthand Michael’s determination as he led his team to multiple NBA championships. I know he brings that same drive and works ethic to this new opportunity. Denny has been a valuable part of the Toyota family for over a decade and we are happy to support him as he takes the next step into NASCAR team ownership. We are also thrilled to bring Bubba back to the Toyota family. Bubba achieved many firsts with Toyota, and we are counting on him earning many more victories with 23XI Racing behind the wheel of a Camry.”
While, talking more on their alliance, the team owner of JGR, Joe Gibbs had this to the state, “We’re excited to have the opportunity to provide resources to this new Toyota team to help them get started. We can remember being in a similar position nearly three decades ago and we were fortunate to have a similar agreement that helped us in the beginning. We’re happy for Denny to realize his dream of ownership and certainly it’s a big deal for NASCAR to have someone with the respect and stature of Michael Jordan enter our sport.”
An enduring NASCAR fan, Jordan was recruited into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009. Thus, he has determined goals set for the team, stating his passion for the sport, “to be competitive for a championship as soon as possible. Our partnership with Toyota and Joe Gibbs Racing gives us the equipment, resources, and expertise to do it.”
Therefore, it would not be unique as the now-defunct Furniture Racing Company turned into a championship-winning organization just within a span of two years into their union with JGR and TRD. Nevertheless, it will be a precipitous hill to rise for this all-new racing team partners. What’s say?
We have Hamlin who has an influential connection with Toyota As they collaborated with Gibbs back twelve years ago. The championship contender has acquired the manufacturer with almost 41-Cup races.
“Toyota has been a big part of my NASCAR career. We have achieved multiple milestones together including back-to-back Daytona 500 victories. I know how they support their teams, and when I decided to move to team ownership, I knew that I wanted Toyota to be alongside our team. Toyota supports my vision with this team and will be integrated with our team members to support us as we grow and strive to achieve race wins and championships,” affirmed Hamlin. lin.
