The 73-km stretch of the recently widened and six-laned NH-19, initiated with a total outlay of 1 lakh crore rupees is expected in order to lessen the travel time between Prayagraj and Varanasi by one hour. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the highway project, where unprecedented work has been performed on new highways, pull-flyovers, widening of roads in and around Varanasi.
In the backdrop of farmers’ demonstration in the capital, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the new agricultural reformations have given farmers new opportunities and new legal security. At the same time, he said, the old method also remains if someone wishes to stay with that.
Thus, the six-lane widening project of the Varanasi – Prayagraj of NH-19 in Varanasi, the Prime Minister remarked that farmers too “would benefit greatly when modern connectivity expands in the area” and, efforts have been made to build “infrastructure like cold storage along with new roads in the villages” with a fund of around Rs 1 lakh crore rupees has also been formulated for this. According to the PM, the farmers have been profiting from the government’s attempts and new infrastructure.
According to the PM, the “new agricultural reforms have given farmers new options and new legal protection and at the same time the old system also continues if someone chooses to stay with that”. The PM said the objection is seen now “is based on mere apprehensions” continuing that “confusion is being spread in society about what has not occurred yet, which will never appear” figuring that “a very meager MSP purchase used to take place.
This fraud went on for years. High loan waiver cases were proclaimed in the name of farmers, but they did not relinquish the small and marginal farmers.” He cited former governments of “deceit in the name of schemes” he says were launched in the titles of farmers. This “deception” he said has addressed the farmers “apprehensive about the promises of governments,” he blamed the Meeting of spreading “lies.”
However, the PM said his Administration has “delivered on the promise of stopping the black marketing of urea and giving enough urea to the farmers” and has “delivered on the promise of fixing MSP at 1.5 times the cost in line with the recommendation of the Swami Nathan Commission. This promise was not only fulfilled on paper but has reached the bank account of the farmers.”
“In the subsequent 5 years, we have passed 5 lakh crore rupees as MSP of paddy to the farmers. That is, almost two and a half times money has led the farmer” he continued that “in the 5 years before 2014, farmers got around Rs. 1.5 lakh crore on the buying of wheat. In the following 5 years, wheat farmers have received Rs 3 lakh crores i.e. about 2 times.” The PM has insisted that this is evidence that the MSP will not be destroyed and that “the government is spending crores of rupees to modernize the mandis.”
Therefore, According to him, the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, scheme preference is not giving farmers in non-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled states, due to political concerns. He alleged that financial aid is being “provided directly to the bank accounts of more than 10 crore farmer families of the country. So far, about one lakh crore rupees have been reached to the farmers. Efforts are being done with intentions as pure as Gangajal,” stated the PM. However, he has yet to state if and when the delegates of the lakhs of farmers now lying on a tranquil protest can meet him.
