World famous motorcycle brand Ducati and one of the biggest manufacturers of hyper sports cars Lamborghini, have come together to create the stunning Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini motorcycle, in a limited 630 unit production. This joint effort by the two Italy-based companies is a one of its kind move, which though rare always leads to the creation of spectacular pieces in the automotive world. That said many people connect Ducati as Ferrari of motorcycles, but now they will connect it with Lamborghini as well.

Announcing the collaborative work that the two renowned companies are putting in the making of their latest project, Ducati and Lamborghini have made their plans for this new motorcycle official. The motorcycle once finished would not only appeal to motorcyclists all over the world, it would be just as alluring to Lamborghini fans as well as collectors- seeing that it is an example of rarity and exclusivity created by two world leading brands.

The decision to create exactly 630 units was finalised seeing the importance of the number ‘63’ for the Italian automaker which was established in 1963; the number 63 also makes an appearance on the body of this new motorcycle. The inspiration to create Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini came from one of Lamborghini’s own specimen- the Sián FKP 37. Since both companies work with the common principles of high speed and performance, it was a no brainer that they would choose to shake hands on such a project.

As inspiration struck, the designers set to work on implementing the core features of Sián FKP 37 to the Diavel. This included a complete reconstruction of signature Diavel parts and keeping the Ducati red for Brembo brake callipers. The features borrowed from the Lamborghini car include lightweight wheels and carbon fibre radiator covers plus air intakes. The main efforts towards this creation have been jointly done by Centro Stile Ducati and Centro Stile Lamborghini. The design teams of both the brands worked on ways to add the car’s extraordinary features to the motorcycle, while keeping the motorcycle a hallmark Ducati two-wheeler.

Apart from carbon usage to make the motorcycle body parts, the Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini also boasts many design elements borrowed from its counterpart. Sián’s hexagon motif is manifested in the shape of bike’s exhaust while the ‘Y’ design is seen in the seat detailing of the new Ducati. Carbon fibre parts and subtle design details are definite gestures towards the contribution of Lamborghini in the making of their newest project.

However, there is one more piece that completes the whole structure and signals towards the inspiration gained from Sián FKP 37- the paint job on Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini. Featuring the same colours as the car that is based on, the motorcycle comes in shades Verde Gea for the body and Oro Electrum finishing on the undertray, frame and rims. Creating a successful cross between two vehicle types that have their own distinct personalities and features is no small feat. The design teams at both the companies have put forward their best abilities in the completion of this project.

Andrea Ferraresi, Director of Ducati Centro Stile stated, “The Ducati Diavel inspired by the Lamborghini Sián celebrated our shared values: we are both Italian, we are inherently sporty and our design always distinguishes our creations. The Diavel 1260 Lamborghini has been created by using the same design language that distinguishes the Siá FKP 37.”
