The next generation introduced the V6 and front wheel drive to the segment in 85’. The third generation, powered by 160HP 3l V6 came to its true colors as the 4 door sports car and was known to be the most affordable and held its own against european sports sedans.

Fourth generation saw more upgrades to the design with better engine and new body, subsequently won several awards including Motor Trends’ Import car of the year. Further generations followed which added better engines and the standard luxurious leather interiors and aggressive styling to match the sedans sportier approach. Today the Maxima comes with diamond quilted Ascot leather seats, Maple wood finishes and 11-speaker Bose audio system and is a standard name in the segment which speaks luxury and performance.

Maxima has been awarded the top vehicle in Large car segment of JD power Initial Quality study for the third year running, J D Power’s APEAL study large car category for the third year and a five year running Insurance Institute for Highway safety’s Top Safety Pick rating. All these awards lay testimony to the sedan’s quality and prowess in the segment that it absolutely dominates, and for four decades has remained faithful to its roots as a true performance sedan.
