India’s largest car manufacturers Maruti Suzuki India LTD (MSIL) announced that they’ve shortlisted five new startups as of its third unit of MAIL (Mobility & Automobile Innovation Lab) programme.
The Company mentioned in their statement that the five brand new startups chosen on the Cohort 3 are Clean Slate, Peer Robotics, Vicara, Hyper Reality and URJA.
With the introduction of these five startups, Maruti Suzuki is now involved with 14 startups under the MAIL programme in the last 18 months.
Clean Slate technologies from Bengaluru, stood as a winner of the MAIL programme followed by Peer Robotics from Gurgaon that turned up as the first runner up. Vicara from Bengaluru, on the other hand, came as the second runner up. The mentioned start-ups are now participating with Maruti Suzuki for other different paid projects and these will be entitled to other benefits associated with the MAIL programme.
Beginning with a vision to foster innovation in the automobile and mobility sector, Maruti had launched the MAIL initiative in partnership with GHV Accelerator in January 2019. For them, the MAIL initiative is preferred more than just a startup accelerator. It actually prompts the best possible initiation of the startups and guide along with the early stages of the startup.
The Managing Director, CEO of Maruti Suzuki Kenichi Ayukawa exclaimed his appreciation for the company’s efforts and said, “The auto industry is extremely dynamic and faces new challenges frequently. An Immense strict shortlisting process was performed while determining the five startups of the cohort 3 which involved screening and pitch sessions, In addition to this, the first three startups will get a chance to shoulder a paid Proof-of-Concept with Maruti Suzuki for actual business use of their technologies.
- This ideology will escalate Maruti Suzuki’s business proportion to an appreciable hike as per the estimates calculated right now, these five startups will have a huge developmental vision toward the betterment of the MAIL initiative.
