The New Sub-4 Meter “SUV” from TKM is called The Urban Cruiser coming out from Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza after badge engineering, it carries the motto “Respect Stands Tall” and is going to be the second offering under the Suzuki-Toyota Alliance and is targeted towards the youth of the country and also towards the budget friendly buyers who want to have a SUV but are on tight budget.

This is what Masakazu Yoshimura, Managing Director, TKM had to say- “Our entry into the compact SUV space comes at a time when the segment has gained much popularity due to its body type and superior road presence thereby garnering greater connect and appeal among today’s youth. At TKM, the focus is always on delivering the best products and services to our customers who have remained loyal to the brand over the years while looking for ways to welcome more customers, particularly the youth, to the Toyota family. The launch of the all-new Toyota Urban Cruiser is an important step in that direction. It is our ambition to enable more people to buy and experience a Toyota vehicle and our renowned after-sales service, which is a differentiator for us in this segment. We will continue to emphasize on introducing ever-better cars, better technologies and environment-friendly products and services. Our alliance with Suzuki allows us to surge ahead on that path while building a self-sustaining local ecosystem of suppliers and partners.”

The New Toyota Urban Cruiser is attractively priced at with a starting price of Rs. 8,40,000 and Rs. 9,80,000 for the top model of the manual gearbox version and the Automatic version starts at Rs. 9,80,000 and goes all the way up to Rs. 11,30,000 for the top variant of the automatic version.

The New Toyota-Suzuki Alliance looks good for Toyota as of now as it gives Toyota access to the vast network of Suzuki in India but we still don’t know how rebadged cars would be any good in the market with already so much competition to compete with the likes of Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300 and the new kid on the block Kia Sonet comes with a lot more features and is also attractively priced, Only time will be able to tell how beneficial it would be for Toyota Kirlosker Motors to keep selling Re-Badged Suzuki Cars in India.
