Nissan’s plant in Oragadam, Chennai becomes home to the first Nissan Magnite created according to the ideal of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’. With start of production in India under the NEXT strategy, the company hopes to strongly establish itself in the Indian and international automobile market. Nissan dealerships in India are closing, half of them are empty with no sales, therefore Magnite has to and has to be a success for Nissan as it could result in company exit the Indian market. As even the Nissan salesman says that only price will be the deciding factor between Magnite success and Nissan goodbye to India! As customers loved Kicks but chose competitor cars in the end because it didn’t justified the price point.

Biju Balendran, MD & CEO of RNAIPL commemorated the start of production of this car, hailing it as a ‘big, bold, beautiful and charismatic SUV’ which takes inspiration from India, is designed in Japan and is an example of human-centric engineering. The car performs up to par with any top of the class models even in an urban setting, bustling with traffic. This is made possible due to its Cruise Control and Magnite exclusive X-Tronic CVT gearbox, which comes with an expanded gear range to deliver flawlessly smooth urban level performance. Combining Nissan GT –R’s ‘mirror bore cylinder coating’ with its HRA0 engine, the car functions with high torque at low speed, further reducing any resistance and enabling it to accelerate swiftly. These advancements have also made the vehicle more fuel efficient as compared to other SUV competitors in the market.

The integration of a B4D engine with its dual VVT system is another option available for car buyers. The engine’s five speed manual transmission balances fuel consumption and output while the dual VVT system offers peak acceleration, making the combination a perfect choice for customers who prefer a low maintenance cost. The Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, Rakesh Srivastava focused on the company philosophy of constant innovation of their cars to ‘deliver enriching experiences’ and living up to the expectations of their Indian customers. He also mentioned tog-grade Nissan features like Nissan Connect and 360-degree Around View Monitor that have been added to the Magnite. Taking into consideration their Indian customer base and their preference for vehicles with versatile utility, the car comes with powertrain options like 1.0L B4D Petrol with 5-speed manual transmission, and 1.0L HRA0 Petrol MT and CVT. Interested buyers can also choose one of the four model options that this SUV is available in. The Base model XE has been equipped with standard 16 inch wheels, skid plates, all-power windows and functional roof rails. As a starter for this SUV segment, it also carries a 3.5 inch LCD cluster and interiors finished in double shades.

The second Mid-grade model, the XL delves a step deeper into the SUV experience with its integrated audio consisting of six speakers and steering wheel audio control. Its electrically-adjusted foldable outside mirrors and automated air conditioner add to the overall comfort of this upgrade. In the high-grade XV, the SUV has been equipped with an improved technical set up which includes 16 inch diamond cut alloys, foglamps and LED daytime running lamps (DRL). It also boasts an 8 inch floating touch screen offering greater connectivity with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7 inch TFT meter, voice recognition, and rear-view camera and push button start. The highest upgrade available in this segment that goes farther than the former upgrades is the Premium XV which flaunts a slew of advanced innovations. It is the top-tier Magnite upgrade with features like LED bi-projector headlamps, Cruise Control, 360-degree Around View Monitor, tire pressure monitor and interiors that exude the its ultimate sporty charm.
