Ansty, 23 October 2021 – The world’s most advanced premium shuttle prepares to launch in India as LEVC brings the electric model TX to a dealership in New Delhi.
LEVC is partnering with Exclusive Motors Pvt. Ltd. for the Indian Subcontinent to make TX available in the region. Not only will LEVC create significant employment opportunities in India, the e-city vehicle will also support a green future for India with its innovative range extender.
Alan Gemmell, Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for South Asia said: “I am pleased that LEVC’s innovative future mobility solutions is embracing the opportunities in India’s dynamic and growing electric vehicle market. The UK and India have ambitious plans to deepen our trade and investment partnership and bring benefits to both economies, and this is a great example of what we can do together.”
London Electric Vehicle Company’s (LEVC) history began in 1908 when the first dedicated black cab was specially designed and commissioned for use in London. With its unmistakable silhouette and classic design cues, this iconic British vehicle has defined the company for over a century. In 2018, LEVC introduced its latest model, the electric TX. TX is powered by LEVC’s revolutionary eCity technology.
Satya Bagla, Managing Director, Exclusive Motors said: “We are glad to have partnered with an iconic brand like LEVC. India is an emerging market for the electric vehicles, and there could not be a better time for LEVC to make its foray into the country. The technology, aesthetics and practicality of the vehicle is certain to win over the Indian customers in the days to come.”
The TX is powered by LEVC’s proven and innovative eCity technology, zero emissions capable for 101km yet with a flexible range of over 510 km. Featuring a spacious passenger environment with six passenger seats, wheelchair accessibility and a purpose-built partition separating the driver from occupants, combined a class leading 8.45m turning circle, TX is the perfect vehicle for city mobility and suburban flexibility.
The TX is a zero-emission capable vehicle with an onboard charging system and a range extender, which is a great initiative for countries like India, which are transitioning from ICE to fully battery-operated vehicles with limited infrastructure and charging stations at the moment but are rapidly developing. This will help and facilitate the early adoption of electric vehicles.
LEVC’s history began in 1908 when the first dedicated black cab was specially designed and commissioned for use in London. With its unmistakable silhouette and classic design cues, this iconic British vehicle has defined the company for over a century. In 2018, LEVC introduced its latest model, the electric TX. TX is world’s cleanest, most advanced model ever, powered by LEVC’s revolutionary eCity technology.
LEVC manufactures its purpose-built, electric TX and TX shuttle models at a state-of-the-art factory in Ansty, Coventry. Since 2014, Geely has invested more than £500m into LEVC, allowing it to build an entirely new eco-friendly manufacturing facility, the UK’s first dedicated to the production of electric vehicles.
In November 2020, LEVC started production of its first non-commercial passenger vehicle with the launch of VN5, a medium-sized electric van. Utilising the same eCity technology as TX, VN5 offers both zero-emission capability and zero range anxiety, a critical combination for commercial vehicle operators.
A new central European sales office in Frankfurt was established in 2019 to increase LEVC’s presence across Europe and further new markets such as Middle East, New Zealand and Australia will continue to increase the company’s export footprint. This strategy will see LEVC move from 90% domestic sales to 60% export in 2024.
