Forerunning SUVs of India, Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner have a new competitor aiming for their top spots. Having already made a debut in North America, the fourth generation of Kia Sorento SUV is gearing up to make its Indian launch official sometime in mid-August this year.
Kia is in works for debuting their latest generation of Sorento in India and we predict that the launch has potential for swaying the SUV market trend. Indian customers will surely have a hard time choosing an SUV when the all-new Kia Sorento gets launched here, especially seeing how it has challenged the SUVs at leading positions in the country well in advance of its upcoming launch. The fourth gen model of the Sorento comes with the promise of being a larger and stronger sports utility vehicle than its previous gen models.
The latest SUV by the car maker comes with several design changes. Sorento comes with options of two 17 and 19 inch alloy wheels, and wheel arch body mouldings with silver sill-detailing. The exterior also comes with a complete LED package which covers everything from the headlights to fog lights at the rear. The SUV’s spacious interior has been finished in sleek black upholstery which comes in three material options- cloth, leather and Nappa leather. In addition to its roominess, the cabin comes fitted with power adjustable driver’s seat options and assistive amenities like remote door locking and Smart Entry System for engine start/ stop. Passengers also have ample area for storing their luggage with folding and reclining seats, as well as additional luggage compartments.
The digital cluster and touchscreen displays also come as standard with the entire interior array. The upgraded vehicle boasts a larger body with an aggregate increase of 10 millimetres in its overall length. All-new Sorento offers two drivetrain options of: 1.6 Turbocharged Petrol Self-Charging Hybrid Automatic All Wheel Drive with 6-Speed AT and a 2.2 Diesel Automatic DCT All-Wheel Drive with 8-Speed DCT. The SUV is expected to launch at an expected ex-showroom starting price of INR 25 lakhs. As any other new vehicle, the Kia Sorento also poses a threat to the market performance of other companies; some of the ongoing models in India that would have to watch out for this upcoming launch are Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, MG Gloster, Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace and Mahindra Alturas G4.
