The car has been designed very carefully and the detailed grille is sure to attract eyes on the road, it is a great choice if one does not prefer the German SUVs.
Genesis-the Luxury brand from South Korean automaker Hyundai has taken the wraps off their newest creation, the GV70 midsize SUV which is based on the G70 sedan. The car is completely new, and looks amazing with its wide and sporty stance, the interiors are all designed to compliment the driving experience and are oriented for the driver. With the brands habit of trimming their cars to the fullest with a variety of luxury, the GV70 has the capability to take the market by storm.
The SUV has been tastefully designed, and looks almost like a scaled down Bentley Bentayga. The intricately designed mesh grille which extends to the bottom of the front fascia gives the car looks very luxurious, and flanked by the two part headlamps and the Winged logo in the middle. Above the headlamps, the parabolic lines which extend the whole length of the car prodive it with a sleek look, the roofline is curved while the rear is extended like a coupe. The exterior is clean, and dominated by the signature design cues.
There are three engine options, a 2.5 litre turbo, a 3.5 litre turbo and a 2.2 litre diesel unit. The 2.5 litre engine makes 304 PS and 421 Nm of torque, while the 3.5 Litre turbo makes 380 PS and 529 Nm of torque, the smaller engine is available in RWD configuration and 18 inch wheels while the bigger comes with AWD and 19 inch wheels. The diesel is a frugal unit, making 210 PS and 441 Nm of torque and comes with RWD/AWD and the 18 inch wheels, this engine has been improved by using aluminium blocks with a ball bearing turbo for reduced friction which improves acceleration. The 3.5L Turbo can accelerate to a hundred in 5.1 seconds, which is sports sedan territory.
The car employs Clever technologies like launch control, which directs the torque and reduces wheelspin for powerful acceleration, Multi Terrain Control for optimum grip and performance on non paved surfaces. The glass on the car comes with sound insulation, for a profound cabin silence, which works along with the Active Sound Design which uses the speakers for a more pronounced engine note. The suspension acts on information fed to it by the cameras and satellite navigation, to condition itself for a dynamic and comfortable drive.
On the inside, the car is genuinely unique. Featuring a design inspired from the aeronautical industry, the car has super slim air vents which are almost obscured from view. The dashboard is flush with leather and the consoles are inside an elliptical shape, the rest of the car also follows this flowy curvy design which makes up for one of the best interiors of any SUV in this segment. The infotainment screen is a 14.5 inch unit while the instrument cluster is a 12.3 inch LED display, four-zone climate control, heated and ventilated seats and air purification are some of the other comforts you will find inside this Genesis.
The luxury SUV also comes filled to the brim with safety and driving aids, like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Driver Attention Warning and Forward Attention Warning, Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist in addition to the 8 airbags which includes a central airbag.
The Genesis GV70 competes with the Jaguar F-Pace, BMW X3, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Porsche Macan and Alfa Romeo Stelvio in the segment and features a good amount of equipment and a very attractive design. The car will retail as a 2022 model year vehicle, and is expected to start at $39,000 for the 2.5 Litre Turbo and $45,000 for the 3.5 Litre Turbo. It is expected to reach dealerships by 2021, while it is not confirmed but Genesis might foray into India next year armed with the GV70, and should be priced between 55-60 Lac INR.
