Ford Motor Company has revealed the Bronco Overland Concept at the largest gathering of classic Ford Broncos in North America, The Bronco Super Celebration in Townsend, Tennessee. The concept is based on the new Bronco 4X4 four door SUV, and will be displayed at the annual event along with its Two-door and Bronco Sport 4X4 siblings.
The off-road tuned Overland is a result of Ford’s massive factory backing, based on the Four-door Bronco Badlands is draped in the Area 51 blue color scheme and every point of the car has been beefed up, quite literally in some cases to tackle any kind of obstacle in the wild. The Bronco has High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension( H.O.S.S.) System that keep it upright and steady along with Bilstein Position-sensitive dampers, this highly sophisticated and robust suspension system is mounted on four 17in Fifteen52 heavy-duty wheels with 35-in Goodrich Mud-Terrain KM3 tires.
The 2.3L Ford Ecoboost engine which makes 270 American horsepower from its in-line four is mated to a 7-speed manual transmission (which is also available on the Sasquatch package) delivers optimum power to the four wheels to tackle any terrain and is reliable enough for the intended overland journeys.
The Bronco comes with a WARN winch mounted on a Ford Performance modular steel bumper, a Yakima two-person tent which is highly durable is mounted on the Ford roof rack and is perfect for the night camps. A 1X40 RIGID light bar and six RIGID POD lights provide 360-degree illumination, and an extended CB antenna on the rear bumper.
The rear of the SUV features an ARB refrigerator with easy-access slide out tray, fully equipped cooking kit and stove which are mounted to the cargo management system. The tailgate serves as a table and the addition of chairs is enough to convert the Bronco into a fully functioning campsite. Additional storage has been provided on the rear quarter windows with MOLLE grids on the inside. The Overland is merely a prediction of what the Bronco can be made into, especially with the massive myriad of Ford factory parts and accessories to personalise it.
The Bronco is expected to start delivery next year and the Overland is just one of the concepts which showcase the wide range of the SUVs versatility. The Bronco is priced at $29,995 for the two-door variant while the four-door variant costs about $34,695 (Rs. 25.47 lakh).
