Durango SRT Hellcat is the beast mode version of Dodge’s SUV and is much more than just an extremely powerful car and comes with three rows, top-notch infotainment and leather upholstery.

Dodge is at it again! The American brand known for their exaggerated engines and performance figures have created what might be the most powerful SUV ever, a Hellcat version of their Durango which has 710 horsepower on its tap. The car has three row seating and plenty of space for large families and a Supercharged V8 that is capable of propelling the chunky car to speeds of 180mph and is a very true American Muscle-car.

Dodge has termed the SUV to be a muscle car for families owing to the stupendous amounts of power that power the four wheels. The Durango comes in six trim levels, the SXT, GT, Citadel, R/T, SRT 392 and the top SRT Hellcat. Engine options range from V6 to the Supercharged V8 in the Hellcat. The car has a towing capability of 8700 Pounds. Dodge did not shy away from anything while developing this monster SUV, and the fact that it is just not a quarter-mile car with an engine and tyres but a fully equipped SUV with all the comforts one can imagine in the plush cabin.

The front of the car has been updated with a new design, all LED headlamps and DRLs, new grille, rear spoiler and wheels. The interior is also customised for that performance vibe with a driver-oriented dash. The instrument panel has also been updated along with the 10.1in touchscreen infotainment system with Uconnect5 which is five times faster than the older version and comes with Amazon Alexa assistant . The steering is flat-bottom and a red-backlit SRT logo on it along with paddle shifters. The interior is wrapped in Nappa leather with an option of Laguna leather.

Coming to the most important part of the Hellcat-Performance, the car has special body improvements to aid its missile-like speed, like the front splitter, air guidance and cold air induction, rear spoiler for high speed stability all of which add to a rear downforce of 400% keeping the car planted. Braking performance has been aided by the addition of Brembo discs which can stop the vehicle in 116 ft from a 100kmph . The electric power steering has different modes which can be customised by the driver to change the characteristics of transmission, traction control, AWD system and the suspension and comes with presets. Dodge also offers their famed launch control and launch assist, both instrumental in achieving the best drag race times.

Coming to the massive 6.2 Litre Hemi V8 engine that has been supercharged to make 710hp and 645lbft of torque, Dodge has opened all taps to give the Hellcat as much power as possible. The eight speed automatic transmission directs the power to the four-wheels. The exhaust system is also tuned to make a thunderous noise which is music to the ears when coupled with the whine of the supercharger.  Dodge states that the SRT Hellcat will do the quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds, a number which is dangerously close to knocking on the doors of a lot of supercars but beats any SUV in its class. The suspension is tuned for performance and comes with adaptive dampers which sits on 20in wheels, Pirelli Scorpion Zero tyres are standard with the option of the superior Pirelli P Zero- a commonly seen tyre on the Hypercars and supercars of today.

Prices of the SRT Hellcat is $80,995 (INR 60.16 lakh) while the base Durango starts at $33,260 (INR 24 lakh) and will be available at dealerships across America in the earlier part of 2021.
