SHANGHAI – Chevrolet this evening announced 50 exclusive ownership privileges and the new Chevy Certified Pre-Owned vehicle platform at Chevrolet Gala Night 2020 – an event for owners, fans, media and dealers in China. Legendary models including the all-new Corvette Stingray Convertible, and 2021 Tahoe and 2021 Suburban full-size SUVs were shown, presenting the full diversity of Chevrolet products.
“Chevrolet has been meeting the needs of Chinese consumers through an increasingly diverse global product portfolio and a solid and comprehensive service system,” said Scott Lawson, general director of Chevrolet for SAIC-GM. “In the future, Chevrolet will focus on advanced technology, forward-looking design and innovative service. It will introduce more global products with the latest electrification and intelligent features to provide local consumers with the overall ownership experience they expect and deserve.”
The 50 exclusive ownership privileges announced at Gala Night include Chevrolet partners Disney, Manchester United and iG esports. Effective January 1, 2021, Chevrolet owners will be able to successively redeem tickets to Shanghai Disneyland, 2020-2021 Manchester United Premier League home games and iG esports events. They will also be eligible for direct access to official Chevrolet events such as the Chevrolet Performance Show and be allowed to receive a Fast Pass to NASCAR.
In addition, every Chevrolet owner can now join the U·CLUB. Membership benefits include access to leading video sites, online music and tickets to China’s four major auto shows. Chevrolet currently has more than 2.8 million U·CLUB members and nearly 3.3 million MyChevy app users nationwide.
The Chevy Certified Pre-Owned vehicle platform launched this evening will enhance the value of Chevrolet vehicles through an official used car system. The brand will promote its used car network in 17 major cities across China. By enhancing the used car retail management system and implementing used car appraiser certification, Chevrolet will make used car transactions more secure to ensure greater peace of mind.
Alongside the Corvette and full-size SUVs, Chevrolet also had on display this evening its current lineup offered in China. It included the Blazer and Equinox SUVs, Malibu XL flagship sedan and Menlo electric vehicle.
“These models provide a clear picture of the global strength at Chevrolet and show the reach as well as the inspiration of the brand,” said Lawson. “They are the perfect interpretation of Chevrolet’s sporty DNA. Performance and capability are hallmarks of every Chevrolet car, truck and SUV sold around the world – including here in China.”
Gala Night was the climax of today’s 2020 Chevrolet Owners’ Gathering in Shanghai. As the first-of-its-kind exclusive event that Chevrolet created for its 6.5 million owners and its many fans in China, it included a tour of the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) and SAIC-GM to showcase the engineering and manufacturing processes and quality of Chevrolet vehicles. It also included a visit to the Shanghai Tianma Mountain Circuit for participants to see for themselves the performance and passion of Chevrolet products and Shanghai Disneyland for them to enjoy the unique Chevrolet cultural experience. About 500 owners joined these activities through an open online early selection process.
