BMW Charging and MINI Charging are enlarging and enhancing their consumer offering in order to correspond with the market launch of BMW’s generation5 electrification kit. For this, Innovative charging solutions and several other digital services for comfortable and accessible home, workplace, and public charging will be available to meet each customer demand.
As known, back in 2013, BMW 360° Electric’ already prefaced and constantly extended a wide range of customer services to append the market launch of the BMW i3. Now, BMW Charging is now practicing things a step further with Gen5. For instance, with the launch of the electric BMW iX3, buyers will be able to install an individual charging solution for their particular user profile when they configure their electric vehicle.
Home charging options have been developed with the addition of the new BMW Flexible Fast Charger prepared for the first time for the iX3. The Flexible Fast Charger operates well with both residential and technical power outlets with a charging capacity of up to 11 kW due to an interchangeable adapter solution. With a charging capacity of up to 22 kW, the high-performance BMW Wall box can be bought as an added option. Thus, all charging solutions can be coupled with a complete installation package for a set price along with a green electricity tariff that is also introduced in the service.
For public charging, the BMW and MINI Charging Card produces BMW and MINI drivers with access to one of the world is greatest charging networks, with around 450,000 charging points. This covers around 24,000 charging points in Germany only and 160,000 across Europe. The Charging points are revealed in the navigation system and in the app to make it simpler to charge. With the BMW iX3 and consequent models, the buyers get the BMW Charging Card, with a one-year charging subscription without any fee, as well as a graded charging cable. Now the Vehicle users use a standard charging card for the home, workplace, and public charging, as well as for invoicing purposes. An intelligent wall box, including
An invoicing that complies with German calibration law, is made possible and thus being offered for home charging.
On the other hand, the focus this year will be on digital services for plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). Considering the fourth generation, more and more BMW plug-in hybrid models have been provided with a groundbreaking geofencing function that empowers vehicles to identify green zones individually and automatically switch to the pure electric operating mode depending on the charge state. This happens automatically and does not expect any active invasion by the driver. This allows PHEVs to drive emission-free, particularly in urban areas, and, at the same time, significantly lessens noise emission and running expenses for the vehicle owner.
In addition, The BMW Designates loyalty program remunerates drivers of several PHEVs for using electric power more often by bestowing them with bonus points. Every kilometer driven on electric power gains one BMW Point or two BMW Points. These Points can be restored for BMW Charging credit. In this way, the PHEV customer is awarded for various electric driving with no cost charging electricity.
