Bentley has been home to the world’s oldest Automotive Coachbuilder, Mulliner which has been active for over 250 years, works exclusively to deliver the most exquisite craftsmanship and individuality to the cars on the behest of the customers. Mulliner has introduced the Continental GT Mulliner coupe, a sibling to the Mulliner Convertible, being visually distinct from the base Continental GT, the Mulliner features bespoke features which have been tastefully imbibed and even wider possibilities for the customer to customize the Bentley.
The car will make its debut at the Salon Privé-the British car show held at Blenheim Palace along with the Bentley Mulliner Bacalar and other cars from Bentley’s portfolio. One can differentiate the Mulliner Continental from the rest with the help of a suite of features such as the ‘Double Diamond’ matrix grille, front fender vents with silver and black design and Mulliner badging on the exterior and interior. Smaller details such as silver mirror caps and illuminated outer door sills with Mulliner etched on them. The wheels are special designed 22in Mulliner, with the self-leveling ‘B’ centre badge.
The Mulliner’s cabin is one which speaks luxury and provides the famed Mulliner customisation options. A unique three color split is given for the car with 8 distinct combination options. The quilting design ‘Diamond in Diamond’, a feature across Bentleys has been extensively used throughout the cabin, on the seats, door trims and rear panels. The whole process takes almost 400,000 stitches, with each ‘Diamond’ requiring 712 stitches, a feat which required development of an embroidery process which alone took 18 months. Mulliner has been embroidered onto the seats. Even the floor mats match the color theme with the chrome Bentley caps, are some of the finer details that distinguish the Mulliner.
The centre console is diamond-milled to perfection, a Breitling clock adorns the centre of the console. The main instruments cluster displayed on the LED screen has been designed to imitate the look of real metal using digital textures making the virtual dials look alive and realistic. The customer is provided with a choice of 88 color finishes for the Burr Walnut Veneer which is hand-sanded and polished.
The Mulliner comes in two power options, the iconic 6.0-litre W12 churning out 626 bhp or the smaller 4.0 litre V8 which makes 542bhp, which is transmitted to the Continental’s proven four-wheel drive system to deliver performance which is quite contrasting to the comforting sublime luxurious build of the car. The car comes fitted with Bentley’s electric active-roll- Dynamic Drive- as standard, resulting in uncanny control of this fairly heavy car over any surface.
Customers can order their bespoke Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Coupe and Convertible starting October with deliveries next year.
Mulliner, based in Crewe has three subdivisions, The Coachbuilt, offers customers unparalleled insight and control over the building process of their bespoke Bentleys, The Mulliner Bacalar is one such example with others to follow. The Mulliner Classic was born last year with the launch of the reincarnated Bentley 1929 Team Blower which were fitted with 4.5L Supercharged engines and were limited to 12 units which were handcrafted by the expert. The Bentley Mulliner Collections is the third subdivision which offers luxury-focused upgraded versions of the Bentley range, an example of which is the Continental GT Mulliner.
