The UK-based luxury auto maker, Aston Martin, is all set to launch its first SUV ever in the Indian market, DBX by the end of January, 2021 at its New Delhi dealership. The high-performance luxury SUV will join automobiles in the upper echelons of SUV performance like the Lamborghini Urus and the Bentley Bentayga.
The mid-sized luxury sports utility vehicle is Aston Martin’s first ever model in the segment and bears the company’s emblematic styling and unique design. ‘Powered by the spirit of adventure’, this new SUV has been developed to triumph over terrains that other Aston Martin luxury vehicles couldn’t. In terms of design, the front grille is reminiscent of the 1949 DB2 prototype while the rear duck tail with LED light blade has been inspired from the Aston Martin sportscar- Vantage.
Though this project is a first for the automaker, Aston Martin has left no stone unturned in ensuring that the SUV showcases the same level of refinement, in terms of style, performance and convenience, as every other flagship vehicle by them. The bonnet accommodates a powertrain made up of a 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 engine that gives power equal to 550 hp and 700 Nm torque, and boosts the vehicle from 0 to 100 in just 4.5 seconds- allowing it to gain a max velocity of 290 km/h. The SUV’s high level of performance comes from Aston Martin’s most powerful engine which has been fitted in an extremely light SUV body. The use of light-weight materials in its making and the performative capability gained due to this has given the competing models a run for their money.
In India, the DBX will start at a price of INR 3.85 crore which is in the same ballpark as its competitors- Lamborghini Urus and Bentley Bentayga. This new DBX stands to being the fourth priciest SUV in the country (INR 3.85 crore) and beats the Urus which is at Rs. 3.6 crore, known for its explosive strength and 0-100 sprint time of 3.5 seconds. The Lamborghini SUV gains a top speed of 305 km/h, extremely fitting for a vehicle titled ‘the first Super SUV of the world’. Bentley’s Bentayga Speed is another major player in the high-performance SUV sector. This SUV’s performance is also just as impressive as its competing counterparts. When the DBX comes to India, it will be a tough battle to the top and we are excited to see it.
