The British Sports car makers first attempt at an SUV is finally arriving to the Indian shores, and it is packed with quite a lot of features, comfort and striking design.
The British marque Aston Martin has recently joined the SUV bandwagon, and the result is the DBX. The car is to be fair like no other, and if one ignores the proportions the DBX looks like a four-door sports car, it looks every bit an Aston Martin, which is a compliment to the designers as we have seen how difficult it is to replicate a brands signature design onto an SUV, and only some have done so successfully. The car is set to debut on the Indian shores in February of this year so let us have a look at some of the features of the new Aston.
The DBX is unmistakably an Aston Martin, the designers purposefully extended the wheelbase as much as possible to allow the wheels to be set at the extreme corners, giving it the silhouette of a sports car. The aggressive grille at the front is the largest ever to be adorned on any Aston till date, the car may look similar to a Porsche Cayenne Coupe but the British designers made sure to make the DBX more edgier and it is a bit hard to comprehend the size of the vehicle in match with its design.
As with all Aston Martins the DBX features one of the most luxurious and finely crafted interiors one can find in a car, the British eloquence is hard to miss in the leather wrapped cabin and use of veneer on the dash. And as a tribute to the marvel of engineering, there are also carbon fibre inlays here and there. The instrument cluster is a 12.3 inch screen, all the seats are heated and so is the steering, ventilated front seats, three zone climate control and other features the befit this car.
The DBX is powered by a 4 litre twin-turbo V8 borrowed from Mercedes-AMG that makes 542 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, these numbers mean that the heavy car can accelerate to a hundred in just 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 292 kmph. There is a 9-speed automatic transmission that powers the wheels. The car also has an electric active roll system rated at 48 volts which keeps the car stable during cornering, an electronic limited slip differential at the rear, an active central transfer case, and adaptive dampers.
There is a 10.2 inch infotainment screen in the middle which comes with Apple Carplay. The audio system has 14-speakers, steering mounted controls and five distinct drive modes ranging from GT to Sport Plus. The DBX is a very spacious car and takes on the likes of the Bentley Bentayga and the Porsche Cayenne in terms of space, in fact the wheelbase is longer than the gigantic Bentayga. It has been cleverly designed to serve the purpose of a luxury SUV, and actually possess the capability to go off road and fast if the need arises.
Now the price for the car has not been announced but it is priced at $180,000 in the US, so expect it to be around INR 3.5 Crores. This price means that it will take on the Lamborghini Urus directly, and offer a more luxurious and practical option which contrasts that of the Italian Bull.
